    Seperating?
Ok Here's The Deal, I Bought Two Bp's One Male And One Female..they Are Only About 19"-20" Long. My Concern For Right Now Is I Built A 40x18x12 Cage About A Month Ago And Put Them Both In There..they Both Seems To Be Doing Fine, The Dont Really Bother With Each Other And Dont Seem To Be Stressed... There Both Eating And Always Curled Up On Opposite Sides Of The Cage But Once In A While They Come Around Each Other And Coil Up Together..my Concern Is Would They Try To Breed Earlier Then They Should If They Are Kept Together?

yes that could happen. but more than that if one gets sick, they both get sick. that is the number 1 reason not to house your bps together. vet bills are expensive enought withought doubleing them for their cage mate just my .02$

How Long Could I Wait Before Separating Them Before The Tried To Breed? I Plan On Making A Second Cage I Just Want To Know How Much Time I Have Before Something Like That Can Happen. (as Far As Them Trying To Breed)

They need to be separated NOW.

Multiple housing can cause various problems such as stress, transmission of diseases and parasites, premature breeding (which could kill the female if she is not proper weight to breed) etc.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money than just set them up in plastic tubs untill your second cage is build.

I agree with what GA Ball Pythons has to say. You need to seperate them as soon as possible, and the cheapest way to do this would be with a tub set up. You don't want to take any chances that they've bred.

well dont they make a couple of sizes of those? ive seen three or four different sizes although i dont recall what brand they are

personally im not a fan of tubs, because you cant enjoy them and look at them.

Are you looking for a nice display tank or enclosure? Are you looking to eventually get more snakes? If you're looking to get more then I suggest a rack.

I used tanks before and will never go back. You can get a nice 4 slot 32 qt tub and a thermostat(needed) for around $320 shipped to your door. I recommend Rich at Reptile Basics. He did an awesome job with my rack and has amazing customer service.

If you are looking for a nice display cage, try boaphile. I hear they have really nice cages, but they are a bit pricey.

    Re: Seperating?
theres really not much difference between a tub and a tank visual wise... I have clear tubs and like see through blue... either way you can still see through them. I wouldnt mess with that exoterra stuff bc theyre not made for snakes... Why spend 40$ to find out its not going to work? Balls hide pretty much all day so the only time your "showing them off" is at night time when theyre awake... and then if you wanna show em off... take em out. Tubs are the way to go IMO

Sudistik, if you utilize the "Search" function in the upper right corner of the forum options, you can find dozens of pics of set-ups. :-)

And I'll chime in that you definitely should give them their own enclosures. They just aren't social animals, and living together can stress them out. Rubbermaid tubs are cheap, easy to maintain, and hold heat and humidity better than glass tanks. Ball pythons are definitely not display animals, and whether they are in a tub or a tank, you won't see much of them. Perhaps you could move them both into tubs, and use your big tank for an animal who is better suited to display?
