Riordan Figured It Out!

Apparently Riordan figured out what female snakes are for LOL. Found them like this about 20 minutes ago. Our first lock! :banana:

Took him about 15 hours after he was introduced to the female but considering he's never been allowed around the girls, heck I'm just thrilled he figured it out this quickly. :D

sniffle....she's all grown up!!!

I'm soooo excited! All my worry about Riordan and him being little was for naught. He knew right off what to do and never let Dori get over on him at all. Pretty much stayed up on her till he figured out what to actually do with her LOL.

He doesn't even look little in the pics though he's almost half her weight. :)

I know us newb breeders may seem a bit silly to you experienced ones, but you've no idea how really helpful you are to calm these fears and help us keep on track. Question: I see a lot of lock pics where it looks like the tub has been pulled out. Does it not bother or disturb them when you pull the tubs out? Do they just ignore it? Just wondering...

Lynn, Dori's tub isn't in a rack actually but I did have to remove the binder clips and unclip her lid locks. I just moved slowly so as not to startle them but to be quite honest I doubt they paid any mind to me at all. It certainly didn't bother them to have those pictures taken and almost 6 hours later they are still happily locked up. :)

He got HUGE! Very nice work with him, Jo! Looks like its going to pay off, with gorgeous babies! :D

I slide the tub out of the rack carefully, snap a quick pic, and close it gently. I have never had a couple seperate while doing so :) But I do try to be as quiet and unobtrusive as possible. Ginger, one of my females, actually assumed an "S" position, while locked; I swear, if I had dropped a rat in, she would have eaten it durng a lockup!

I've been extra careful with mine that's why I haven't taken pic's of my lock's. Maybe I'm being to careful but I'm learning as I go.

His first lock with her was about 8 or 9 hours long, the next day another 9 hour lock. When he let go of her that time I popped him back in his tub and within hours he was happily snarfing down a rat dinner. :)

He's resting/digesting now and will go in with Orlah sometime tomorrow.

LOL Alice! I kind of had a hint this particular male might have a clue about females when earlier this year he attempted to tail lock an immature female while my husband was holding them. I'd handed him Riordan while I grabbed a phone call and the nasty boy tried to molest Morag (who isn't up to breeding weight quite yet). She was happily trying to accommodate him!

Let me tell you, these females from Robin - they are just ummmm "real friendly" if you know what I mean. Don't know what they teach girl snakes down south there. LOL

Hey, they know a good looking man and how to get him and keep him! :P
