Hehe... see, that's why I attached mine to the back wall for ambient and humidity readings and use another acurite single readout for the cool side. :D If that thing weren't attached, she would have dunked or buried it so many times...

My boys both like to lay on theirs, and Kali loves to dunk hers in the water too. I haven't figured out the best way to 'anchor' it in the tubs without tape.
I've already learned that was a bad idea, cuz now Loki has adhesive residue near his tail. No damage done, thankfully....
    anyone have any ideas?

I think I'm going to try double sided velcro to attatch the front of the thermometer to the front of the tub. hopefully that works.

Make sure you get some industrial strength Velcro. lol

haha ya no kidding. Some mornings when I wake up he has managed to push his heavy waterbowl 6 or so inches back away from the cool side. He's pretty funny.

Actually that is how I have the accurite's secured in all four of my tubs in my rack. I have them at floor level w/ velcro on the back of the unit and the tub. I buy the industrial velcro that comes in circle shapes and just cut in down the center in a half circle and attach on on the accurite and one on the tub. Even my big 5 yr old guy can't move it . He actually will drape himself over the top and it still doesn't fall down. Then I just run the probe under the paper to the hot side of the tub. Here is a pic below. On these accurites the gauge that senses the temp/humidity is on the back.

its the reptile basics rack. 4-32qt sweaterbox rack. I love it. I have it running on the helix dbs 1000 with the dividers in the tubs. It was a great investment i'll have to add. And rich at rbi is a great guy. I'm going to be getting another rack from him I think this spring.

Re: accurite gone for a swim
what do you mean six plugs. It has 3" flex-watt with the belly heat option.

yeah but you can buy the helix buy itself right? so how do you connect your heat source to the helix hahah sorry

Re: accurite gone for a swim
the helix has a outlet for your heat source to plug into it. and theres only one plug coming from the flex-watt which you plug into the helix. and the helix has a seperate plug to plug into the wall. does that answer it for you?

Re: accurite gone for a swim
yeah totally. cuase ive seen things just like the helix that have a six strip connected to them so you can control more than one plug.

so all the flexwatt in that rack is wired together?

Re: accurite gone for a swim
Ya how rich put the flex-watt in the rack is acutally pretty smart. it's kind of hard to explain but it is first recessed so the tubs do not hit it when you take in and out and its one piece of flex-watt that does an S throughout the whole rack. so it goes on the belly and then up the wall to the next level and on the next floor then to the other wall up to the next level. i hope that made some sort of sense to you lol. and the helix itself has three outlets for three seperate heat sources.

Re: accurite gone for a swim
and the three sepereat ouets actually control other heat sources that you plug into it correct?

Re: accurite gone for a swim
That's how we attach Acu-Rites....heavy duty velcro. Just keep a check on it to make sure it doesn't start to eventually detach from the humidity of the tank. Oh and make sure you pull it out if you are a live feeder. Lost a few probe cords before I figured that one out LOL. I have a lot of Acu-Rites on walls to pick up ambient room temps since they are now the "accidentally cordless" models.

My rack, the one in the picture, is a Boaphile RhinoRaxx ballroom rack. It has 4 1960 41qt tubs in it.
I will have had it a yr in Dec and I really like it.
It has two rows of 4" flex in the back which is recessed into the shelfs so the tubs don't rub over it and the flex runs top to bottom in a S figuration. Each row of flex is on a seperate plug so you can run one row or both rows. I just plug them into my Helix dbs1000 and I have the probe taped down on the back row of flex on the bottom shelf. Have the Helix set at 93 and it keeps temps in my tubs @ 90.9-92.5.
I have the accurite's velcro'ed to the front for cool side temps and then the probe from the accurite is run under the paper and comes out and sits on top of the paper over the flex to give me a floor reading for the hot side.

    Jo,
I have often wonder if those little buggers would chew on my probe cord. Luckly my bp's usually hit them before they can make it to the back of the tub :)
