Try searching again on target. It's spelled Acu-rite (one c).

    Re: accu-rite
It's nearly impossible to find half the stuff WalMart and Target sell in the stores online... out of all the things I've searched for and known that they sell, I've only ever found one or two things on the websites. The best thing to do would be to go in and pick it up yourself...

And no, it's neither of those. It's an indoor/outdoor thermometer with humidity reading. Most often found in the garden section.

I have 5-6 of them, bought at Walmart. There is a thermometer/weather section in hardware.

cool thanks for the pic post

another cord going into the cage...I swear, my snakes enclosure is beginning to look like a mini electrical substation :/

btw, where do you put the probe? Is it for ambient?

    Re: accu-rite
With just one t-meter, the unit goes near the substrate on the cool side and the probe goes over to sit under the warm side hide near the glass/plastic over the UTH.

Personally, I like to know ambient as well as have a central measure of humidity, so I place that acurite unit low on the middle of the back, put the probe under the warm hide, and use a second, single reading unit outside the cage with the probe going in under the cool side hide.

    Re: accu-rite
I currently have a johnson control thermostat that reads the temp at the UTH (92), so that's covered.

I also have a flukers digital thermometer/hydrometer that sits on the side wall in the middle (usually meters about 75 degrees) where it sits. The cold side of the enclosure measures 81 degrees at the bottom.

    Maybe I'm splitting hairs??

    Re: accu-rite
The t-stat sets the temp of the UTH, that doesn't mean that the temp where the snake is is the same. Hence placing the probe for 'outdoor' reading there.

The flukers t-meter is ok, but it can only tell you the ambient air temp, and placing it up high doesn't do much good when the snake is on the floor.

Also, what are you using to measure the temp of the cool side?

    Re: accu-rite
There is a flukers at the bottom of the cold side and one in the middle between the cold and warm side that sits up halfway on the enclosure and the t-stat monitoring the warm side

so basically the acu-rite would be replacing the two that I currently have and probably be more accurate, which is what I'm looking to do

    Re: accu-rite
Basically, yes. It would be quite a bit more accurate since the probe would be exactly where you want to read temps. The only thing better would be a temp gun. :)

Just make sure not to get the unit wet...they stop working then.

thanks for the great info :)

I get paranoid about the temp and humidity so I'm constantly looking for better ways to improve

    thanks again
