Let's not mention this to my husband...
.... because he just tolerates the BP.
I got up this morning, got the kids up, went downstairs, and went to use the bathroom. I see a familiar looking tail...
In the bathroom, under the sink, behind a hair dryer is my BP, Lovey.
Her tank was still latched shut too! I have no idea how she got out because I know dh didn't touch her and my 3 year olds couldn't have done it either.
I have my own Houdini....
Re: Let's not mention this to my husband...
Glad you found her! And I hope you figure out how she got out so it hopefully doesn't happen again.

Glad you found her. They are very good at squeezing through small spaces. Maybe she was able to push up a corner enough to squeeze out?

This would be my idea too...especially if you are using a tank with those spring-like top locks.
Re: Let's not mention this to my husband...
Wow. That's freaky - good thing you found her so quickly! Maybe she can teleport! Er... no, probably the 'pushing one corner up' thing. ;)
Re: Let's not mention this to my husband...
I investigated the top of the tank, and it looks like there is a teeny spot in one corner that she must have squeezed out through. I'm going to have to patch it with something.

Odd thing... I didn't even know she was missing!

I know. I can only imagine the utter panic that would have ensued if I had noticed she was gone. I think the bathroom would have been the last place I checked. My guess is that I used the hairdryer and it was still warm when she was drawn to it.
Re: Let's not mention this to my husband...
Glad to hear that you found her. I had an escapee that was out to wonder for about 7 days once. I felt terrible for I was the one who left the latches off.
Re: Let's not mention this to my husband...
Believe me they can get out of the most amazingly tight fit. Dori got out a couple of weeks ago, from a tub she's lived in for ages and never got out of. I would have sworn there was not enough give for a 1,500 gram snake to squeeze out but she did, leaving all the latches fully engaged.
Luckily the BP's now have their own snake proofed room so there was nowhere for Dori to sneak off to. She was a couple of feet away, happily coiled up and less than pleased to be hauled back home (I believe she called me some very nasty names in her snake hiss language LOL). I've since added some more very large black binder clips.

Christine,
I'm glad to hear that you found her before you even noticed she was gone. I won't tell the husband either, I promise.
