My albino male is afraid of heat...?
So my albino male is more or less afraid of the heated side of the tank. If i pick him up and show him the hide on the warm size he curls into a ball, but if I show him the hide on the cool side of the tank he dives right in. Normally I wouldn't care, but the temp of the tank is a cold 74 degrees and the heated hide is 95. I don't know how to heat up the air in the tank without using my heat lamp, but if I do that I can kiss all my humidity good bye...any suggestions?

Have you tried lowering the hot side temp a little? Maybe 95 is too hot for him. Why not try 90 for a couple days, and see if he is more interested in venturing over?

Said your using a heat lamp correct?

If he's albino he is sensitive to light...could be doing it.

Try a red bulb, or CHE or UTH.

    Good luck!

There is a thread in here about how to set up your glass tank, it involves partially covering the top and if you do it right and put a lil time into it looks pretty good and works good at getting the ambient temps up. Since 75 is a lil cold in my opinion.

No, I am not using a heat lamp right now. And I have read that thread already. Heres his tank:

The only way to get the humidity to stay in the tank was to fully cover the lid, if I left an opening with a heat lamp the humidity was non-existent.

I had one of mine set up about the same the only thing was i had a gap were the che was sitting. By the pic i could not tell what your substrate was, i always used cypress or aspen or even a mix of one of those and coconut fur. All of those are a substrate that holds moisture pretty good so there comes a lil more humidity. The other thing i would do was place my water dish shallow but with a large surface area under the che this creates moisture through evaporation. When i did this i would also place a small water dish in a nother place that was not so warm. The only thing is i would thuroughly clean my water dish every other day since warm water is a good place for disease and bacteria to grow. Just throwing what i got out there maybe it could help.

use a red light and then keep a spray bottle next to the cage to spray once a day

I use a red light and put wet paper towels on top of the screen, cover it with foil and then Dakota's "blanky" which is easily removed when it's hot, but insulates in the cold. I generally still have to spray once a day given that the heat in the house is on now - plus two water dishes. All of this keeps it at 55-58. Seems like a lot of work, but really it's not once you get a routine down.:gj:
