    Do you resent the secrets?
Do you resent the secrets that the breeders that develop new morphs keep?

Or, is it a necessary evil?

Not at all. I look forward to seeing what they come out with, and I'm extremely glad they are there to forge the way. Don't blame them at all for being tightlipped about it.

While I'm very curious about what they've got cooking, I completely understand from their point of view and so I don't resent it when they want to keep things hush-hush. I would too if I had something totally awesome that I had produced.

I don't resent the secrets, per say...I think it sucks that there are so many Bad @ss combos that are a mystery recipie..but I completely understand protecting your investments...I'm sure if something freaky pips out of my eggs this year, I'll keep the formula hush hush, until someone offers me the $$ and then I sell out...:salute: The American Way!

I was gonna say the same thing Jas, lol. I like the secrets, but they are only good for so long. If you say I have the XYZ ball, and then 5 years later you still wont show a picture or say what is in it, people will get frustrated and start to give up on that morph, so to speak. But keeping it a secret while you make more or figure it out or just to build up hype for 1 or 2 or maybe even 3 seasons is a good thing.

I love looking at mystery snakes and trying to puzzle together what it could be. I find it absolutely exciting seeing secret combos...kinda like seeing a Sasquatch :rolleye2:

I have no problem with them holding stuff back for awhile its what most of us would do anyway.

    LOL!!!

I know. I actually was going to preface this thread with.. "I know I have been asking a bunch of questions, but...."

I just like to see what people are thinking about things I am also thinking about.

Re: Do you resent the secrets?
Heather, this is how I personally look at it. If a breeder has spent the years, planning, work and cash to produce a very special morph what right do I have to insist they just hand over the "recipe" to me? At some point and at their own discretion they might well talk about what went into making that morph and then I might purchase the "ingredients" but for me, that's their decision done in their own time.

Whining at a breeder or complaining if they won't tell all is, and again this is just my own personal take on it, very rude. I don't feel anyone has the right to do that in order to shortcut a way to a new morph.

Re: Do you resent the secrets?
I don't resent them or their secrets. As many have said, if they have spent the time to hatch a mystery snake, they deserve to decide when to unveil it. Now, I will readily admit to being a bit frustrated at times when I can't tell what's in the recipe and with all the multiple combos hatching out, that is more and more common . . . . . :D

Not one bit! I think that adds to the intrigue and contributes to keeping ball pythons exciting. If THEY can produce something really cool by playing around with combos, any of us can - and that just serves to remind me how much I love this hobby! Keep on inspiring us guys!
