People talk all the time about good and bad pastels... well what would you guys have to say about mine?

beautiful blushing but a little dull....it all depends on the line they all make great combos. i have one that is almost completely brown and one that is still nice and bright

I hope this doesn't sound mean, but I wouldn't be able to tell if it was normal or a pastel. He still looks like a great BP though.

I have been trying to find a nice male pastel and I am being very picky. I am always looking at ads and I see LEMON PASTEL and it looks completly normal to me.

I have tried contacting NERD, but to no avail.

I think his color is kind of brown but the blushing is incredible.

How old is it? They do change as they grow so for me if its a baby then I would go with one answer. If its older I would go with another.

Kevin and Kara have probably been at the shows when you have tried contacting them. There have been a few shows of late!

It is hard to tell. I do not see much variation between the upper and lower colors. My pastle is browning out somewhat, but you can distinctly see a variation between his lower siding (brighter yellow) and the coloring on his upper body (more brown.)
But I can easily see that yours is a pastel. Not a normal.

I would definitely try calling NERD instead of doing it via e-mail. Those two are SUPER busy--I think Kevin's thinking of having his phone surgically installed into his head for better ease of use (that way he can talk on it and wrangle rattlers at the same time). :) And from what Kara's said, they get a GAZILLION e-mails every day.

I agree that all pastel "lines" make amazing combos...however I don't think that a "line" specifies if you have a "good" pastel. I have seen "poor" examples from each line, but then I have seen amazing looking ones.

I love blushing and your pastel definitely has that...he is brown but he doesn't look that old...

I have never had a problem contacting them by email.

Busy they are, especially this time of year. Kara has been working her A... off on the sites and there is a lot of other stuff going on too, shows... may even be some ball python projects going on... but I don't think kevin is into ball pythons... :P

My :2cent:, I think the most important here is how YOU feel about your Pastel, if he appeals to YOU this is all that matter.

There is a lot of wierdness about that snake... like the blushing way up in the dorsal regions.

The sides could be a bit more colorful, but I suspect that it will get better with age.

I have a pastel that I really thought was the world's ugliest. It has matured nicely.

Yes, he does have extreme blushing, or extreme flames... whichever way you want to look at it I suppose.

I'll have to take a more recent pic of him. Those were taken about 6 months ago I think. He's from Next World Exotics, via a third party.

I agree with what several have said here it is more in whether you like the animal or not. I think it is very nice looking.

Here's the thing... I love him - I really like high blushing, and at the same time I'm a huge non-fan of the extreme "yellow" of pastels... I love them when they get older and a more golden brown to them.... So I think he's one of the best looking young pastels I've seen - but its all just a matter of opinion really.

I'm guessing that you like him - so that should be all that really matters, unless you're planning to try and breed him to produce 'high quality' pastels... Even so, there are always people like me out there who will love the lighter shades of a more brown than yellow.

If you guys want lemon pastels you can also contact Constrictors Unlimited and ask them about future offspring, that's how I intend to get my male Lemon.
