my chameleon - feeding time

my future son-in-law took these videos tonight of my chameleon eating out of my hand...

she just laid eggs, so she's rather thin instead of her usual chunky monkey self LOL

Glad to see that girl is doing so well for you. Neat that your veiled will eat from your hand too.....mine is a pain, ha ha...I have to stick the silkworms to the side of his enclosure...then let him do his thing...

i'm so pleased with her... and her with me. she has me trained! she i got to work with my silkworms she stalks me with her tongue sticking out just a little... ready for action LOL

the eggs are not viable... as she's a single woman living in the sticks alone :P - but they lay them regardless.

she sure does. often she'll eat 20 in a sitting... i just give her whatever i have available. i set some aside... and grow them up and it's "her" drawer of silkies. that way i don't end up selling them to a customer and then she goes without. she gets a little upset with me when i do that LOL

everyone loves to watch her eat. her tongue is so long and her eyes moving in two different directions always gets them going. what you don't see in the video is my 8 year old was standing beside me, my hubby and son behind her and my daughter was on the other side (21 years old) and then her soon-to-be-hubby was taking the video. normally she won't eat from my hand if there's a lot of people around but last night she was HAPPY to perform.

perhaps she knew she was being taped and would become a star! LOL

I don't know very much about chameleons, I didn't realize their tongues were sooooo long. WOW!!

oh you all have to see them IRL. it's soooo amazing!!! normally my girl is one chubby monkey, with all those yummy silkworms, but her recent egg laying really took a lot out of her. she stopped eating while she dug and dug and dug.

i'll get another video once she's fattened up again!
