    venomous bp
I was searching through the portland section of craigslist and come across an add with someone giving away a 55 gallon tank and their bp. At the end of the ad it says snake is no longer dangerous its had its venom removed. Some people are just plain ole dumb.:snake:

You would be surprised. My mother in law still believes my snakes are venomous. When she hears we are getting another she tells me "It better not be venomous!" is a serious angry tone. It is extremly annoying that people are so poorly informed.

I get asked all the time. The 2 most questions I get asked are "arent those venomous?" and "arent you afraid theyre going to kill you while you sleep?" depending on who Im talking to and the mood Im in depends on my answer. If Im annoyed by the pesron then I usually say yes in a sarcastic voice. If Im energetic and feel like joking around and have my snake out I act like its about to bite and start freakin out. that usually gets people pretty good. But for the most part I try to geive them a little insight into the snake world. It just gets annoying to have to tell at least 25% of the people I talk to that most snakes are not venomous.

haha i love it when they say, " arent you afraid she will swallow you, or even eat your kids"? im like how a big nice hot cup of ................. :)

btw i took the venom out my bp's gland by jerking on their tails, and pinching their rear legs

    Re: venomous bp
I was asked just a couple days ago if my snakes could "wrap around you and kill you?" Also, "Aren't you afraid that if they get loose they will end up in bed with you?" I answered that if one of my snakes gets loose, I HOPE they get in bed with me! Makes them so much easier to find! I do regularly get asked if they are venomous (or poisonous), but it didn't come up in that conversation.

I hear that one alot, too, Steve..."OMG, aren't they POISONOUS?" "Then they don't have TEETH, right?", and my all time favorite: "So can they still BITE?"

Then here we go with bp basics, 1010...lol

It is hysterical. People will be over here, and see the snakes for the first time, and be all into touching them and even holding them. Then they will ask "is it venomous?" So, they picked up a snake that they thought could be venomous? I now just tell new people that they aren't as part of general conversation before they touch a snake.

I usually get that... "WHAT IF THEY BITE!!!"

To which I respond "well the last time I got bit..."

I am self serving though, I prefer the housepests don't touch my snakes. :)
