Well its hard to say until they determine the exact problem he has.Where are you located? My reasons for asking is because it will alert others here not to buy from that pet store. This could also help you find a knowledgeable herp vet ;).Keep us posted

i dont know what kind of pet police you have in the US but i would report the store to the feds and try to stop them from selling snakes.

Oh yes... I know where you are. Petland is horrible, when I lived there I also saw the poor snakes and the people that work there don't even give a crap about 'em...
I remember there was this website that you can report people that like abuse animals and are in bad conditions (like in pet stores) but maybe someone else would know it...

I hope it turns out well for you and your snake. IMO its worth paying the shipping costs and buying from a reputable breeder instead of a pet store. They are not all bad though. My oldest two came from pet stores. One was covered in mites and about 10 - 15 ticks. Obviously an import. They are both healthy, very big and breed whenever I give them the chance.
Good luck

Re: i swear
Hi,
Only other advice I can think of then is to either find another member close to you for recomendations (which your already doing :gj:), asking at local petstores who they use (though I'd probably skip petland :( ) and also asking at any local zoo's if there are any near you who keep reptiles - also asking a regular vet might be a good route in case they happen to know of anyone they would refer you to.

Re: i swear
Have you been using the same enclosure for each of the animals you got? and did you completely sanitize it before introducing another animal?
-

Re: i swear
I haven't had to go to a vet yet (I live in MA), but asking from a reference from your parents' pet vet is a good place to start. I hope your BP gets the treatment it needs as soon as possible! The next time you're looking into getting a reptile (if you're ever in the market again), I would suggest making a day trip up to NERD in Plaistow, NH. It's only about an hour and a half drive from me, but it would probably be closer to 3 for you--they are, however, a VERY reputable breeding facility for reptiles. I got my BP from them and couldn't be happier :)
Best of luck getting your little snake better!

Re: i swear
blah.. think my thermometer/hygrometer isnt workin and i just bought it last week.. so was wonderin if anyone knew of one that is good but kinda cheap... my walmarts or targets and homedepot do not carry Acu-rite... any ideas ???
-
Re: i swear
It doesn't have to be an AcuRite brand. Any digital indoor/outdoor thermometer will work. Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's - any of them should have one.
-
Re: i swear
Wal-mart's business is built on some very sophisticated warehousing. You should try asking them to order one for you and I wouldn't be surprised if your wait time was less than one week.
Also, there's internet ordering. Do a google search for:
Acu-Rite 00891 Digital Thermometer
That's the one!

This is true. Accurite is a particularly good one. But, the first one I got was this little thing from Lowe's that reads temp and humidity (no proble) and comes with a suction cup. I have a few accurites now but I still always find a place for it. It was only $7 and it beats having nothing at all by a long shot!
One bit of advice with the accurites - the first one I got I broke inside of 10 minutes. The probe wire is fairly delicate and I was trying to run it around the cage lid and it got pinched. Tricky thing is, when this happened, it just continued to read the same temperature forever. I've purchased several more since then but I make sure to be careful with the wire.

Re: i swear
I'm from CT too! The best snake place is called Slither and Swim in West Haven...they're excellent folks, breed their own snakes, extremely knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

Re: i swear
