Your future pet "wish list?"
I got to thinking; it seemed like a cool thread idea, would be for us to post what pets we want in the future. Maybe we can't afford them now; or space/time is an issue. Or we already have something of the type that would not get along with the future pet..
So post away! I am keeping mine realistic. Mine:
-A Siamese cat. I know that they have weird temperaments and are energetic; this is why I would want one. I knew a few different people who had them. I always ended up having more fun playing with their cats at their houses than hanging out with the people who owned them! One in particular stood out; he was a huge cat and would play fetch with a crinkled-up cigarette pack. Awesome cats! I can't get anymore cats because our current one, while I love him to pieces, hates other animals and it would be unfair to him.
-A Doberman. I love these dogs and always said that if I got a dog, I'd get a big dog. They are another thing that friends of mine have owned or own. Not practical now for time-spending reasons, but in the future..
-A roan rat. I saw one that someone recently posted and boy, would I love to get my hands on one of those! Gorgeous fur patterns on them.. this is unrealistic because I don't know where I could find one.. never even knew they existed until I read the thread here.
-A different horse. Granted, we have 2 now.. but we sort of "fell into" them. While I love them both for their quirks and mannerisms, they are not technically horses that I shopped for.. they needed homes, and we wanted horses. I will not sell them unless finances demanded it, but my next horse will be a gelding or mare of impeccable temperament that I could toss a 2-year-old up on hypothetically, who is bombproof yet not dead on his feet. :)
-Crazy BP morphs that I cannot afford, like Pieds, Pewters, Clowns.. etc.
Unrealistic: a flying pegasus. Wouldn't it be awesome to pull up at work on one of those!?
How's about you?
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
x2 on the bp morphs!!
I want a cat....just a cat of any kind. I love cats. Mandy is allergic, and where I live, we have a cat, but she hates me. I want my own cat.
I want a dog....maybe a lab. My dad never has liked dogs...raised us all to be cat lovers...but I have been around some precious dogs and would love to have my own.
and there are a ton of exotic animals i could list..but that's a bit list...for another day :D

Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
My list (reasonable ones):
A Dobe, my favorite breed. Two dogs at a time is my limit though so it will be awhile. Would love another Catahoula at some point also.
Horses- my mom has 3, 2 of which are much older and arthritic. One is not ride-able at all and the 3rd is a former racehorse. A bit much for me to handle most of the time. I would love a AQHA, but a TB or Tennessee Walker would be awesome too.
BP morphs, waaaay to many to name.
Roan rat, that was the coolest looking rat. I always loved roan horses. I love the way the Merles look too but the health issues turned me off.
Another Macklotts python, still my favorite of all my snakes (and my only non BP) & a Bredli python.
A chameleon, pref veiled or panther.
Totally non realistic:
a mountain lion. To me there is no other animal on this earth that speaks to me the way they do. My only tattoo is of one.

Now you've given me an idea...
I want a green panther.
They probably don't exist...but damn it this a wishlist so back off! :D
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Okay, I'm game for this:
the reasonable:
more BP's, morphs, normals.. someday will have all that I want, at present space is an issue.
a dog.. unsure of a breed, hubby wants a british bulldog, I would love either a great dane, sheltie, or a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
crested geckos
and the unknown.. dont know what it is until I see or learn about it.
unrealistic:
a dragon - like the ones from the Pern series or from the dragonlance books. :D
a black panther.

Pewters aren't all that expensive.

Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Oh, cool...
If I didn't have all these cats, I'd love to have another parakeet or cockatiel.
If I had to have another cat, I'm totally with Connie on the Somalis...I've wanted one for ages. I've met some amazing Sphynxes too, and I'd love to have one of them. They are so ugly cute!
Dogwise, another Catahoula or a 'Houla/pit mix, a Boerboel, an English Bull Terrier, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a Standard Poodle, a Flat-coated Retriever, a French Bulldog....the list goes on. :-)
Someday on the farm I want dairy goats, a mini donkey or two, peafowl, fancy chickens.
Oh, and another pet bluegill or sunfish too...they have soo much personality. I used to have one that would eat out of my hand.
Fantasy: A griffin like Buckbeak, or one of those little donkey-dragon babies from Shrek.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
When I finally move, early next year, and get established financially... I'm hoping to get into Ringed Pythons again. Next to AfRocks; Ringeds are my favorite snake! Hopefully soon.....
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Well, I'm going to go ahead and divide it like the others-
reasonable/already planned:
a wiener dog (which we should get sometime this year)
a whole pit of BPs (some of the high-end morphs go on the other list!)
a retic
GTP
another stinking cat (had a few, don't have any now- wife wants one again)
unreasonable:
English Mastiff (we're in a duplex)
a couple of horses
Falkor the Luckdragon from Neverending Story
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
i would like a black eyed leucistic ball python. but theyr $15000 so thats not really possible. i shouldnt say that. it is possible but ill have to buy a car that is at least that much first. then when ive got all my main prioritys out of the way maybe i can get a belbp. who knows any one can become incredably successful with a great attitute about life and lots of great carma.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
I'll keep with the trend of dividing up the wish the list. :)
Reasonable (within the next 2-10 years)
Ball pythons - perfect g-stripe pair, a glow, a banana
Boas - lipstick sunglow, snow
Dogs - another lab, another pug (Nate, I like your new avatar!), a boxer
Unreasonable
A dragon (isn't it so cool that so many of us like dragons?) Falkor would be cool
Florida panther/cougar (we've raised a few but we don't have the land to keep them)
A whole bunch of different large exoctics (land issue again)
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
realistically, I plan to get a boa (soon!), and either a GTP or a colubrid. I also plan on a large salt water reef tank. A chamelon and either crested geckos or dart frogs.
Unrealistic: a tortoise (no room in our house), a dog (husband against it), pheasants! (need a lot of outdoor fencing and a structure), Alpacas (same problem)
oh, and a miniature elephant :gj:
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
oh, I forgot...also unrealistic: indoor birds.
I would love some lovebirds, finches, perhaps canaries.
birds were/are my first love. I kept all kinds including larger parrots before I was married. no longer an option due to noise - my husband put up with them when we were first living together but he hated it. ah well, the things we do for love :D
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
i'd love to get a sheltie again, mine was stolen two years ago... and just 2 bp's... an axanthic killer be and a queen bee (:
for my really crazy wish- a 20000 gallon saltwater lagoon for a group of coral catsharks, connected to an assortment of tanks to build reefs in. :D
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Reasonable (within the next 2-3 years)
Ball Pythons: Pied, Genetic Stripe, Clown, Albino, Pinestripe, Pewter, Bumble Bee, Axanthic.
Honduran Milksnakes: Snow, Ghost, Extreme Hypo
California Kingsnakes: Albino, Reverse stripe
Of course those are the one planned for there is always the unexpected as well.
Other pets: Is there any other pet than snakes? I already have a dog and she is a handful so no other dog, just one at the time.
Unfeasible but nice if it was: Sugar Glider – Chinchilla – Ferret - Horse.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
OMG, "The Neverending Story" used to be my fave movie back in the day, the sequels just never measured up though..... And the dragon/donkeys in Shrek were cute!!! My daughter would want a pegasus and a unicorn.
I also loved the monkey that they had on the first season of Friends...can't remember what kind that was.?.?
For the more realistic wants:
Dogs: I LOVE the big doggies... St. Bernard, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundland, Burnese Mountain Dog, Neopolitan Mastiff (would love a wolf hybrid but that is a little too unrealistic for my family)
Birds: African Grey, Eclectus, Amazon, Cockatoo
Herps: Man there are too many to list, More balls (I'll take one of each morph :):P), RTB, GTP, Black and White Tegu, Yellow Ackie, Beardie, lots more (If y'all would stop with the really cool pics I would stop wanting more.....JK;)....keep the pics coming!!!)
And I plan on getting a farm someday, which means farm type animals!!! YAY..... horses, cows, chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, etc. etc.
And I saw once where someone had a pair of white peacoks (I know the sp is wrong) VERY BEAUTIFUL!!! Would love a pair myself...
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Realistic next 2-5 years
Ball Pythons-1.1 Pastels, Spider, Super Pastels
Boa- pastel rtb
Yellow Anaconda
Olive Python
Blue Pitbull
leopard gecko
unrealistic.......for now
Piebald, albino - to expensive :(
green anaconda
emerald green tree boa- have you ever seen the teeth on those!
gaboon viper - kids at home
black mamba - same. kids are here
i might be able to catch a few kangaroo rats. My friend and i are waiting for a good night to go catch some, along with the WDB Rattlers, and mojave, blacktail Rattlers.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Heh... this list would be endless for me, but here are the toppers:
Reaslistic i.e. Someday I will own these:
Blue Tongue Skink! - fell in love with them while caring for two at the zoo...but I don't have the money or space right now.
Chinchilla - ditto on where I first encountered one. I love those little guys, but they are really pricey. At least I have the cage...
Silver Maine Coon cat - I love all cats and used to have 5, but these are my favorite breed. We aren't sure if Ari is allergic to cats or not, so I can't have any right now.
Dwarf Rabbit - I had one once and loved her. Now I would want another once my current ratty pets are gone.
Less Realistic i.e. probably won't get to have these (unless I get to open that refuge I want):
BP morphs of Pewter, Caramel, Bee, and Sterling - These four are my favorites...and very expensive. Still, I would love to have them someday.
At least 2 horses - My favorite animal that I've never really been able to get close to. I especially would love to own a 'starlit night' appaloosa (black with white dots over most of the body).
Owls and Hawks - For birds, I prefer the bigger varieties. Favorites include Great Horned Owl, Red Tail Hawk, and Snowy Owl. If I can have that refuge, part would be devoted to raptors. For more typical birds, I love Hyacinth and Scarlet Macaws.
Alligator - I've always wanted a 'guard gator' living in a nice big pond in the yard that gets to roam around behind the fence at night. :)
Unrealistic:
Silver Dragon - As if you guys couldn't guess.
Unicorns, Pegasus, Hippogryphs, Pseudodragons... I love all fantasy creatures, so this list would be pretty long. I also wouldn't mind a Siberian Tiger, Giant Panda, or Reticulated Giraffe. :D
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Here's what I'd like to purchase (1-5 years)
BP's:
SPOG
Pied
Clown
Caramel
Hypo Mojo (Or Super, depends on pricing when I get one)
Bumble Bee/Killer Bee Het Hypo
etc.
Other:
GTPs
Maybe a Milksnake Morph (Like Albino Nelson's)
Maybe some Anery Kenyan Sand Boas (or Anery Het Albino)
5-10 Years:
BP's:
Banana/Pastel Banana
Caramel Glow
Pastel Clown (or Super)
Spied
Other:
Gila Monster
Sugar Gliders
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Reasonable:
Lavender Albino Retic
Super Tiger Retic
And a couple of Emerald Tree Monitors
Not very reasonable:
A couple of Het Falkors from Aaron :8:
Black Arabic Horse
Hyena
Black Leopard
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Well i have always found iguanas cool, when i have space I would not mind getting one. the coolest iguana to get would be a fiji crested, but maybe i will wait till they are not critically endangered lol.
i also raised ringneck pheasents and would like to get some goldens in the future.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Wow, I have a long list- so I'm just going to put the ones I think I am going to end up getting :) lol.
Dogs: A Dogo Argintino, a black and tan or blie and tan doberman, wolf hybred, and maybe another Pit Bull.
Cats: Not a big cat fan but a REALLY want a silver marble bengal- there beautiful cats and they act like dogs! lol
Birds: Not sure if I want another bird, but if I do I want a Umbrella Cockatoo with a pink crest.
Horses: I want a black and white paint, a jet black horse, and a buckskin colored horse.
Reptiles: More snakes- a few RTB's and some more morph BP's, and maybe a dwarf Retic, and I really like Savanna moniters
And like I said there's more- these are just the ones I thik I really have a possibility of getting. lol.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Reasonable:
Ball Pythons (Every morph)- I'm already addicted!
Super Dwarf Retic- I love retics and the fact that there are some that are a managable size-- it's just crazy awesome!
WOMA!- these are just too cool... d'uh I'd want one!
Sugar Glider- these are cute (not sure I will get one now, but someday!)
Corns- a corn was my first snake, and the first snake to be lost, so I just want more... I want to touch and hug what I missed out on.. :(
A dog- personally a Shiba Inu, Husky or minature pinscher.. THEY ARE SOOO CUTE!
Unrealistic:
Flying croc
unicorn
:)
-

Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
i want too many bp morphs to name, a blue beauty, a gtp, a veiled chamelion, a crestie, a chinchilla, a yellow canary, a horse, and a cow.
and if aaron's gettin a luck dragon, i want one too!!!
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
2 Great Danes and an English Mastiff love love big dogs...and a black eyed leucy.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
I wanted to add a little more. We plan on adding some hens to our barn this spring. We have two roosters.. but this = no eggs though :) And we want eggs..
I would not mind getting into cattle raising down the road when we own a house. Mark hates them, but I think that we could eke out a little profit on beef; friends of ours sure do. I would have some learning to do before then, but my friend has beefers and I am always welcome over there to help with chores.. lol.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
I'm big on planning, so I have my list all worked out, lol. Course, additions can appear at any time. ;P
Herp wise, for now, probably more later depending on what I fall in love with and know I can handle...
Moar VBBs, naturally.
0.0.1 Gopher Snake
1.1.0 Trinket Snakes
1.1.0 Mojave Ball Pythons (and produce my own Leucy!)
1.1.0 Japanese Ratsnakes
1.1.0 Jeweled Lacertas
Other Pet wise..
Bunnahs! Gender doesn't matter, we usually go through bunny rescues and it will just depend on who seems to fit our family. We usually get mutts. Ideally though, we'd like a French Lop and/or Flemish Giant at some point. A mix of those two would be *awesome* Some big squishy ball of love. I think 4 is our maximum capacity though, lol. At least as far as my cleaning the litterbox.
We used to plan on maybe a border collie or something, but we've learned about ourselves that we're really rabbit/herp people. The care, the quiet, and the ability to be cuddly AND entertain themselves works perfect for us.
I also want a domestic skunk. I LOVE them, and the only reason I hesitate at all is that they have some health issues and legality issues depending on where you are. They're illegal in AZ, and in Oregon where we hope to end up you can own them but you have to buy them out of state or something weird like that.
Also, I would love to live somewhere that I could put up a barn owl nest box and actually get some barn owl neighbors.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Near future:
blue beauty
Possibly later:
scottish deerhound
sphinx cat
quarter horse
can't have, but want:
African gray parrot
italian greyhound
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
I wan't a german shepherd pup, a female spider, a female normal, a male cinny, and a tegu. Lol I've only had my first bp for a week and I want more.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Oo, I want to play!! Hmm...I have just about one of everything that I want...but there is something else I saw at the fair last week that was just too cute for words...
A pygmy goat!!!
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
My turn
Within 5 years:
More BPs
Either GTP or Boa
180g+ FOWLR Tank
Pond for my 2 turtles & koi
More than 5 years:
..More BPs
Turn the FOWLR into a reef
Pitbull
Cat(my wife thinks they steal souls, lol. Might be kinda hard to get one:weirdface)
Maybe a fainting goat someday.. for when I'm feeling bad I could just startle it and make myself laugh.
I'm j/k that was kinda mean.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Likely to happen:
I want a Boxer, I absolutely adore them with all my heart when it comes to dogs. That and a Dogo Mastiff, I would take the Boxer first though :)
I also want a Bengal cat, they are awesome cats. I am not really a cat person but I could definitely deal with one of these guys in a heart beat. Need to find a good breeder though.
VERY HIGHLY UNLIKELY: Actually... it won't happen.
I want a baby elephant lol, one that stays a baby. So yeah that won't happen but I can wish right? They have just got to be the cutest little things.
I also want a Monkey, but seeing them as pets in captivity breaks my heart and I think its cruel to them. Zoo's are one thing, but for single person to own one I don't think its right. They look so unhappy, like broken little souls. So NO I will never have one.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
you have great taste in dogs and cats!
boxers and bengals are my favorites too :)

Then boxers and those faces, they are such clowns lol.

Pygmy goats slay me with the cute! :aww:
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Near Future:
Hypo nicaraguan or Corn Island Boas
Either an ETB or an GTP
a pair of the larger kingsnakes, possibly mexican blacks
Future:
a Leachie
Akita dog (I miss my parent's akitas).
dart frogs?
canary?
a house!
If it wasn't for the cat and the possible noise problem with neighbors, I would have picked up a male canary years ago. The noise factor (along with possible heating concerns) covers the reason for the dart frogs as well. I want D. leucomelas dart frogs, and I've been told that they have pretty loud calls, that sound like a canary.
I really miss the akitas...

I almost DIED the first time I saw those things on youtube!! At first, I was thinking, aw, they are just clumsy and fell over, but as horrible as it may sound, it was hilarious!! I'll never look at an umbrella the same way again.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
I gotta add to my list and somebody already mentioned it.. a fennec fox. I also want a bat.. fruit bat most likely.
those feinting goats are so funny... but goats are cute in general.

I *LOVE* the Pern books!! That is what I think of when I think dragon.
So I haven't actually read the whole post yet, I saw that and had to comment, but I'll go ahead and put my list down.
I'd love to have cats again....my mom has a ton, but since I live in the dorms I can't really have any other animals than my hidden ball python :P
A dog or dogs....specifically another pair of pit bulls. Ours were the biggest babies and the sweetest things I've ever met and I would get another one (or two) in a heart beat if I had the time or space. I would also like just about any dog...although I'm not fond of small, yippy dogs.
My horse close enough to ride him...we have horses at home (about 5 hours away) but none of them are really rideable. I would love to have horses close enough to work with and ride on a normal basis.
A red tailed boa. I don't have the space for something that big, so that will have to wait until I get out of school...but I really want one! :P
More ball pythons, and a few other snakes (a corn or two, a blue beautie, or another kind of asian rat snake, etc)
Anyways, the list could go on....those are just what I can think of off the top of my head ^_^
**Ah, also, if I had the time and space, I would love to get into falconry....I started researching it a while back, and realized how much time, space and money it takes, but it would still be amazing!!
A ferret..or two :P My aunt used to have a pair and I loved them!! Then one of the girls on my floor kept hers in her room for about 2 weeks and we got to play with him. They are so cute!!
A rabbit ^_^ Too cute and cuddly....I love their ears. I think this is probably the only animal on my list that I haven't researched or had personal experiance with...which means one of my friends needs to get a rabbit! :D
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
What I want and hope to get:
Morongo Valley Rosy Boa - female
Albino BP for my son (a lavendar would be my dream, but unrealistic due to $$$)
What I would love to have, but can not b/c of my allergies!
horse (paint or appaloosa)
ferret
guinea pig
What I want but know won't happen:
fruit bat
cheetah
African wild dog
compysagnathus (sp?)
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Goats are sweet animals. They definately liven up a boring barnyard! I would love to get a few females or neutered males eventually, but am pretty full-up at the moment on animals..
We would love to raise whitetail deer someday but I know that this is pretty involved and I would want to learn from someone who already knows how to keep them.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
very near future
-red eye tree frogs
not so near future
-spider ball
-pie bald ball
-columbian boa
eventually
-quarter horse
-ottb (off track thoroughbred) (will be our fourth ottb)
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Ottbs are nice :) I actually have a friend that rescues, that would love to give us 2 geldings now. But we are not financially nor mentally able to have 2 more horses; 2 is enough for now.
I know that people do awesome things with ottb's. My friend uses those for jumping and they serve her well.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Besides more snakes and fish, I'd like to try a skunk, leopard gecko, panther chameleon, veiled chameleon, jeweled chameleon, alligator lizard, different varieties of finches, more canaries(red factors), some frogs and that's about all I can think of at the moment.
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
I'd want a donkey and a coop full of those fancy poofy chickens. :D
-
Re: Your future pet "wish list?"
Shiba Inu (Red)
Enchi Bumblebee BP
Blue Eyed Lucy BP
Super Cinnamon BP
Pretty unrealistic considering the apartment I'm living in doesn't allow pets :[ I'm thinking of moving soon though.
