Just remember...."what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"

Oh and if Wayne Newton pinches your bum, just say "thank you Mr. Newton" then run like hell! :D

We want pics (not specifically of any bum pinching of course).

My Dad lives there. I love Vegas. Not sure what to avoid as I haven't been there in a long time. My fav. when I was a kid was Circus Circus, and the Big dome, I forget what its called but it has a roller coaster in it. Also my Dad said Mandalay Bay is really cool too.

Oh and you have to go to the space needle, or whatever its called, there is one in seattle too but I think the one in Vegas is bigger. Either way, its awesome being up that high and seeing the view.

While in Seattle go to the Aquarium if you get the chance.

As far as Vegas goes, I will email my Dad and see if there are any cool events happening while you will be there. When are you supposed to be in Vegas?

Vegas is a great place for adults... I don't think so much for the kids as much, but then again, I don't go with kids.

I went to the Mandalay Bay aquarium that said it had like 300 species of reptiles/aquatic things. It was rather nice for the size, but only had like a Caiman and a Water Monitor and Sharks.

    Nice to walk thru though...

Also, the Wynn is very nice, so is the Bellagio.

There is a hotel, which I cannot recall at the moment, that has some really awesome birds (Pelicans, Flamingos, Tropical birds, and some Penguins). I think that was the Wynn....

    Beautiful!

Childrens stuff, I recall being at the MGM and there having a large childrens area with a small amusement park inside.

I go to Vegas every couple of months due to it being so close.

You'll have a great time. There is plenty to do there. :D

The Seattle aquarium is really nice from what I remember. I am pretty sure they have expanded too. I would check out there website. I absolutely loved it when my Dad took me and a friend one summer.

    http://www.seattleaquarium.org/NetCo...d=183&srcid=-2

Then there is also the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle
They have a Retic and an Annie there. The last time I went I think it was the Annie that I saw and it was HUGE. I could be wrong though, it may have been another Snake.

For Seattle bring Warm Clothes for sure. Its already cold in the Northwest, its 45 degrees here in Idaho right now. Its supposed to get colder. Come Nov. it will be pretty cold.

Not sure how Vegas weather will be, but you could probably get away with Shorts or at least light clothing.

The Wynn and Bellagio are big hotels....the Bellagio is the one with a big "white" fountain display...they are worth just walking through. =)

My tidbit of advice is on food; the bar/restaurant in the Hilton, Quark's Bar and Restaurant (they have a Star Trek theme) is awesome. I have never had bad food there, they have good prices and I love their ginormous cocktail, the Warp Core Breach. Oh and Klingons, etc. walking around are FUN! Personally, I never feel like I get my money's worth out of huge buffets in Vegas...

I've seen kids there before, so shouldn't be a problem.

There is also the Star Trek Experience, a sort of ride there...if you are a MAJOR Trekkie, definitely hit that. If not, it may not be worth the money to you. =) And there are plenty Star Trek displays around the restaurant that are fun to look at.

So you're coming to my neck of the woods. The weather in November is great. Jeans and t-shirt (maybe a sweatshirt) weather during the day and it gets chilly at night (although you're in Canada, so chilly might be different for you than me). Vegas has plenty of family things to do. New York New York, Sahara, and Circus Circus have rollercoasters and Circus Circus also has an amusement park. The wax museum is cool. Also you might want to check out BODIES...The Exhibition at the Tropicana Hotel. Stay away from the three card monty game by Caesars Palace.

The Wynn and The Bellagio are two of three most expensive resorts on the LV strip, and a couple of the most impressive in my opinion. The Wynn has by far the best buffet IMO although it is expensive ($35/person last time we went).
I can go on all day. I've lived her 15 years and love the place except for the summer heat. If you want more specifics, shoot me an e-mail (rocksolid331@gmail.com) with all your questions, and i'll try my best to give you answers and opinions.

I went to Vegas with my family a few years ago, and we stayed in Treasure Island. When I went, they had a pretty cool nautical battle with pirate ships outside of the hotel (i think they have changed it by now, it's been about 5 years ago) and they also have Cirque du Soleil shows nightly at the hotel. Right next to Treasure Island is the Mirage, and there's a pretty cool volcano that 'erupts' every hour or so, and it's pretty cool to go see. Once again, I went there before the whole Sigfreid and Roy Tiger incedent, so they had their exotic animal zoo with the white tigers and white lions, as well as some asain elephants and dolphins around their hotel. I'm not sure if they still have the zoo there or not, but you might want to check. Some of those animals are absolutely beautiful to see in person. There was also M&M world, which was kinda cool to go and see. I loved going into Ceasar's Palace (especally the shopping mall) The archetecture was really cool inside, and they designed the ceiling to make it look like a natural day/night cycle inside the building. I also really loved the archetecture of the Luxor (there's some kind of tram that you can take so you don't have to walk the 3 miles). I don't remember much about Mandalay Bay, just the really cool aquariums that they have there, as well as the House of Blues.

Let us know how your trip went when you come back! I really want to go to Vegas for my 21st birthday, so I'm planning/saving up for it now, lol.

jeff, thank you sooo much. knowing what to bring for clothes really helps as we won't have much space for luggage. we don't plan on buying much of anything while we are down there... doing more sight seeing than shopping.

the body exhibition has been here, at science world so we won't bother with that but your other idea are great. i'll be taking notes and taking them with me.

You're going to have sooo much fun!

I will second everyone that said Bellagio- if you've ever seen Ocean's 11, it's at the end where they're talking around the fountain:

    Bellagio!

The Stratosphere is the hotel that sort of resembles the Space Needle- it's the highest thing that side of the Mississippi (1049 feet), but not in the US... VERY cool, and it's worth the $5 to go on the observation deck. Your ears actually pop going up the elevator it's so high! On top of that, I'm a huge roller coaster buff, and there are two located ON TOP of the Stratosphere- the Big Shot is that little spike on top of it- you actually go 160 feet ABOVE the building! :)

    Stratosphere

There is also another coaster going around the edge of the observation room- it's called the High Roller, and it's also pretty cool.

Now for the Trekker-type things! Las Vegas Hilton rocks! They have the History of the Future museum with a ton of memorabilia and unique things- the only better collection is the one they sold through Christie's a few years back! Quark's Bar is on the bottom floor, and different Borg, Klingons, and Federation folk walk around all the time- you may even get a Ferengi waiter. :)

I was just reading about their new Borg Invasion 'ride'- I haven't been on it, but the old one was really cool- you even got 'transported' at the end- you're in a shuttle, then it goes dark, you hear the sfx and feel some air, then you're suddenly on the bridge of the Enterprise!

Also, if you want to go downtown to 'old Vegas', it's a bit cheaper- you'll find more $5 blackjack, etc, and the Fremont Street Experience is pretty cool- they've put up a light display that goes on a canopy over the entire street (longways), and there is a light show with fireworks and all kinds of cool stuff.

If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of the city- you can have a ton of fun without even gambling at all (though I do that too)!!

Some of my other favorite hotels-

The Venetian (it cost $1 billion to build!)- there are gondola rides, and the whole interior is marble with frescos everywhere.

Treasure Island has a pirate show every hour or so where they have a giant battle and actually sink one ship completely!

Mandalay Bay has a huge shark exhibit, along with a bunch of other sea life.

Anyway, have fun! Get pics! :)

I've seen Stomp and the Blue Man Group... VERY FUN!

If you can, if you like them, Celine Dion and Toni Braxton are both playing in Vegas right now...

My favorite place to gamble and hang out is the MGM. They have Lions :)

If you are out near it, the Golden Nugget has the laser show that is outside.... It's rather hard to explain, but it is worth going to see as well. (On the Ceiling of a outdoor walkway...)

Anyway, Vegas is great. You will NOT see everything you want to see.

Don't walk the strip at night unless you are interested in getting propositioned for getting "HOT CHICKS" sent to your hotel room.

That is everywhere, so I hope you are not trying to keep the kids from seeing that. It is unavoidable... (Unfortunately) --Also, I don't know how old the Kids are.... so I'm assuming young--

*Ding, ding, ding*!!! Yaaaaaaay....Yes, you must go to the WPZ, but right now (today, yesterday) they're in a whale of a windstorm....... 50 mph gusts. Hopefully by the time of your trip, things will have calmed down a lot. The Space Needle is something you MUST experience...unless of course, you're afraid of heights, and no, NOT in the windstorms.....you can actually feel the thing sway....:D :D :D :giggle:

My niece works at the zoo....you were right Kristy, at first, but unfortunately a few months ago, the female retic died. She was in her late 20's (I think that's what I recall from the article my sister sent me) and Amy my niece said the necropsy was egg impaction, and something else as the cause of death.

My sister understands my interest now that I have our pets, and sends me all the cool articles from the web and the local news from the zoo for the herps.....that's where she's gotten the posted website pics of the ETB, Komodo and the AfR(?) ...she's hiked miles and miles around the zoo.

There's a few kiosks around the strip called Tix 4 tonite or something like that, offering discounted tickets for shows the same evening. When we went we were bombarded with free coupons and guidebooks and whatnot, so that stuff shouldn't be hard to find.
As for things to do with the kids, check out Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage. Lots of dolphins and big cats.
Also, Shark Reef at Mandalay bay (easy walking distance from Luxor).
New York New York has a neat rollercoaster, and a kids arcade-type place on the second floor.
For free, there's also the fountains of Bellagio, the Volcano at the Mirage, the Sirens show outside Treasure Island.

there are several cirque shows, i would recommend the Beatles "Love" show. It is amazing! I will be in vegas this weekend 10/25 thru 10/28. I believe it's at the Mirage.

O and love are usually sold out in advance and if u get any tickets from a site other then the actual hotel site its going to be above face value. Both are great shows to go to and buy both now if u want to check out either. Mystere is the orginal and I loved it but I have yet to see O or Love though

[QUOTE=recycling goddess;648099]okay so i did a map quest and we are 3 miles from the luxor... so definitely won't be walking to the wedding LOL

Its actually not that bad of a walk, since you get to see all the cool hotels and everything on the strip.

I guess if you have kids though it might be a hassle.

then again... the cab rides in vegas are a roller coaster in themselves
