New and Old Snakes - DUW
Here is my new male Mojave. This is a fairly good representation of his color.

This pic is too dark/red, as are all of my tub pics.

My new rack for my smaller old snakes. The bottom 2 are my het albino pair. It was midnight and the male bit me when I opened the tub so there are no new pics of them.

Thanks, Jonny. That albino shed a couple of weeks ago, so he's looking crisp.

Yep. They all ate on Monday night, and it was late last night that I took the pics so I'm surprised I made it through the majority without incident. Both hets were wiry, so I let them be.

Thanks. I didn't see it coming. The tub was hardly open when he shot out and tagged me. He didn't give me a look though. Well, maybe my hand. It was a leave me alone or I'll chew you up look.

    Thanks Joe.

I'm really excited about the mojo. I've wanted one for so long, and I finally got a nice one. And a breeder size, too. Definately worth the late night drive to the airport.

Looks like a great breeding collection Jake. Will you be doing any breeding with them this year? If so, I wish you luck.

Thanks Heather and Tim. I am going to try breeding this hear. I am planning to breed my Bell pastel to my o4 virgin female and my spider to the woma-ish looking girl I picked up at Tinley. I'm still deciding whether I want to breed the mojo to the 2 new girls from Chris Simone, or give one to my albino to try for hets. I'll be getting a late start since I have to quarantine and get fecals done on the new girls. I hope at least 3 go for me this year for all my co-doms, but it's looking a lot better than I thought. Only 6 weeks ago I thought I was only going to try for pastels with my 04 girl, then I got a little squirrelly like I tend to do and bought a few more breeders at the last minute.

Thanks. I stopped using them after I read on a big breeder's site that he doesn't own a single hide. I don't remember who, maybe Ralph or EBN? I keep them in tight tubs in a room that doesn't get any traffic, and they all do fine. They don't skip meals and are generally calm and healthy.

Jake, lovely snakes! Is that a rack you built yourself?

Yeah i only have three that use hides the rest just sit on top of them or sit next them so i dont offer them. By the way all my snakes are in racks as well so they dont really require them.

Thanks! Yeah, I made all of my racks. The one pictured is the new one that only took 2 1/2 hours to build and wire, and cost me $20 because I found a HD store credit in the parking lot on the way to buy the materials. All I had to pay for was the flexwatt. The adult rack took a lot longer to build, but mostly because I had to iron melamine tape on the raw front and top. Racks are too expensive to not build your own :)

Exactly. I only had enough floorspace for one hide in my smaller tubs, and they didn't even use them most of the time. Eventually I just stopped putting them back in on cleaning days. They don't seem to mind.

I remember now. Marcus of Marcus-Jayne is the breeder who doesn't own a single hide. I usually only look to Canadians when Whiskey is involved, but he seems to know what he's doing up there.
