Cute glowing danios. Has anybody kept these little chimera? I haven't seen any out here yet at petstores. But I imagine they're as easy to keep as any other danio...

A blue one would probably be gorgeous... Gen-eng issues aside, of course...

Well i do not have them but i have a freind who owns a pet store. These fish are giving something geneticly while in the eggs to produce them. They are real cool looking but not worth the extra costs.

I've kept a couple of these before (I was given a school of 6 as a gift). They are as hearty as regular danios. The eat like oxen. 6 glofish + bloodworms + blacklight = really crazy light show.

    I have 4 of them.

    2 pink / 2 yellow.

I wish I could find someone who has the green ones.

They arent expensive. like 4 bucks or something.

Cool.. I only saw the red ones before (hadn't looked at them in years)

I think they'd make a really neat display with a black light.

:D ! I may consider adding some to my tank since they're not all that much more expensive than regular dannies (and probably just as hyper!), if I can find 'em!

I think the homepage has a store locater link, or you email them.

And I imagine they don't fade like the "headlight taillight" or "highlighter" fish, too. Y'know, the clear ones with just a spot or two or a line of neon color (not actual neon tetras. Those buggers just do the flash-die on you a la Perfect Blue... >_<) and the color is gone in a week?

Well those other fish they inject with dye.. it makes them sick and it doesn't last. The glofish are perfectly healthy from what I've heard.

All my experience with them indicates that they are. They aren't as prone to ich and fungus as the dyed fish, and tend to be much less stressed. If I recall, any pet store that gets its fish livestock from Seagrest Farms can order them for you.

I know those other poor little glassfish (or whatever they actual name is... I know it's not Highlighter fish) are injected.... I used to make myself crazy trying to picture it.... poor fish.

I'll have to check with the local GOOD fish store (few and far between I've notices) and see what they can do. Danios are impressively resiliant anyway, I've noticed. And darnit but they're cute.

I wonder if you can see the barbels on these better than on regular danios? I've only managed to spot them on mine once, on my big normal female. I can't see a whit on my smaller male or my golden danio.

I got turned off at first by them, thinking that they were injected. But from what I have read, the process does not seem to have longterm adverse effects.. my tropical tank only has normal iridescent sharks, tetras and gourami at the moment.

I only have marine tanks at the moment, and these fish are the first I'd get when I set up a fresh aquarium- I have an electric flame scallop, and animals that emit light just amaze.
