Poll: How did you get your snake?

I was just wondering how people get their snake/s, so I made this poll.

I voted that someone gave them to me as both my corns are rescues.:)

I'm not sure how to vote. Three of the options apply to me. I guess I'll just vote for my majority.

1 from the pet store and 21 from breeders.

Since ALL of the options apply to me, I assumed you meant how did you get your first snake. Was I right????

I live less than 2 hours from NERD....it was a no-brainer for me to go there :carrot:
it was my first foray into herp keeping, so I wanted to make sure I got a healthy, well-started animal *and* great customer service.

I got that timesfiftymillion :D

Got all mine from a breeder that owns his own pet store, lol. So I guess from a pet store but all mine came from his home breedings and the money just changed hands in the store. Ponderous. :rolleye2:

I got my BP as a trade from a reptile store owner I trust. I traded my just-couldn't-tame Beardie for her. My corn snake I got at a show from a breeder. :)

I don't have any Colubrids, but I bought my first BP from NERD--their facility's near where I go to school! It was definitely the right choice!

I got 3 of mine from a pet store, 8 from a private sale and 9 from a breeder.

All of my captive bred snakes are from assorted breeders. But i have one female i got from pet land in brunswick maine, i love her very much she is super picky and i have no doubt she is straight from africa, but i cant get enough of her.

The stats seemed to be what I expected: a majority of you got yours from a breeder followed closely by those who get their's from a pet store.

Most apply to me so I voted on how I got my first snake, which happened to be given to me.

I normally go through breeders unless I am at pet store and something really calls to me. Then I can't help it.

I said breeder BUT that is only because it is how I acquired the majority of my snakes. I have done so by every other method as well has yet another method. The final method is growing your own from an egg, ;). Many of my AHS are hold back animals,

I got my first BP from a petstore, and the other two were from breeders, one at an expo, one over the internet.

I hit other, because I got my first three from pet stores, and most of the rest from the breeders, some from reptile shows, some from the internet, and two from rescue.
So most of mine came from the breeders.

Darn! I signed up too late so I missed the deadline! I don't have a snake yet but chances are I'll buy one from a pet store (does Boropark even have breeders?).

I currently have 5 BP’s and four were skinny, mite infested, wheezing rescues.
Don’t even ask about my other 17 snakes or the hundreds that have come through my doors in the last 16 years. :(
