Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
Have anyone of you EVER seen an African Rock Python????
I would have just been "rude" to the 2 ignorants who have posted saying it was an afrock, but i need my reputation points to go up so I can post freecly, so i will help a brother out.
That pic is pretty old. It has been debated and no one seems to know the exact snake, but it is between a scrub python or a water python, or maybe an olive python. But no one is sure. I believe it is an Australian wter python.
It is not eating a cow, it is some type of kangaroo or wallabee.

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
Now that you mention it- it def. isnt a cow. I see the tail now, lol. And I just googled the Austrailian water Python- it looks like a match. Thanks

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
definately not an afrock.... If you look at the pic the perspective is all distorted and the animal in the water has a long bushy tail.
If that was an adult cow, the snake would be 75-100 fee long.

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
I believe it to be an olive python, there are quite a few threads on this picture already.
-
Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
yeah, i think the last time the majority thought it was an olive and a wallaby
-
Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
I'm no expert to when it come to ID of snakes, but that really doesn't look like a cow to me. From the picture it seems that the from legs are shorter than the back ones, also the tail wich is in the water is alot longer than that of a cow. The placement of the ears and what little you can see of the head it seems to look a little like a kangaroo or of that family. I do have to agree with herplover92 and python.princess. Its still an amazing pic.

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
That pic has been around and yes it is an olive I think it is a Liasis olivaceus barroni due to its large size although I could be mistaken about that.

It is an Olive. I found (i think) the site that the picture came from originally. It had a link to a page where people actually keep these snakes. There are some pretty good pictures there. Here's the site.

Correction
I've seen this picture before. Because of the distance of the camera the scale is a little misleading.
The snake is an Australian Olive Python dragging a Wallaby out of the water. Olives get upwards of 10' though so it is still a pretty big animal, however, not a snake that could kill and eat a cow (only a huge Retic or Anaconda could *maybe* consume a cow). Awesome shot though.

While I totally agree that the snake in the pic is not a carpet python don't get to married to the idea that JCPs only get 5-6 feet. Given you have a male he proabally won't get to big and JCPs stay smaller on average then CCPs but I have seen an 8 foot female JCP and I just saw a HUGE Coastal at the last Lonestar Reptile Show, it was easily more then 8 feet and had the girth or a 7ish foot boa.

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
oh wow see at our reptile shows in Columbus,Ohio they usualy have Carpet Pythons bigger then 5-6 ft... so i guess i was wrong. thanks for tellin gme

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
Wow cool pic. Yeah looks like an Olive for sure. Looks to be a good size one at that.
Yeah watch out about the 5-6 carpets. Only carpets I know to usually stay that small are the Irian Jaya's. I have a 7' Male Jungle and a 7 ft. Female. I have had Coastals up to 9-10ft. But also depends on how you feed it.

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
I agree with the "wallabe" guess. It could be a `roo, but I don`t think so. I downloaded the pic into my comp and enlarged it and it shows a very long tail for the size of the animal which is normal for wallabe`s. The tail on a `roo is thicker and shorter. But it definitely ain`t a COW :O!!!

Re: WOW- anyone know what kind of snake this is??
Yeah, it was posted on another forum, and its was said to be a olive and a wallabe... so ima go with that.
