15-Qt Rack
How long would it take for a hatch ling to outgrow a 15-qt tub? I know a 15 is too big, but I add some cosmetic stuff so it is smaller.

I'm buying my rack off of Kevin (kagez28) it had 4 15 qt tubs and 1 32 qt tub. now he said he keeps them in the 15 qts until their about 300g, so that gives you plenty of time. But I think when they are under 100g they can stay in smaller tub. But you should be fine, maybe add a hide, plus a water dish, it should be okay, when their about 150g take out the hide, seeing that its already dark and small enough then they should be fine my friend.
Hope this helps

Well I guess that wouldn't last too long then. My snake now is around 150g.

Oh it will last him a while, don't worry like I said, he can stay in the 15 qt till he's at least 300g.

I really need to make some new racks. Just weighed one girl in a 15 qt. 1100g! Where does the time go??

Re: 15-Qt Rack
I've got 800 grammers in a 30 quart tub that's split vertically giving each snake 15 quarts of space. They're doing great, eating great! When I've moved any to a larger tub, they tend to go off feed for a few weeks, or until I move them back.

Same here! I actually have a 1000 gram female in a divided 32 quart, 750 gram male, etc... Full 32 quart tubs are reserved for 1000 grams +
Balls like their boxes tight!:D

Re: 15-Qt Rack
Yep, here too. I have some females that are 800-1000g in 15qt tubs and they do just fine. Eat every week, shed normally(unless they are having a bad "hair" day), and grow like nobody's business.
And who knows, you may end up with some snakes like one girl I have, that if they are moved into a bigger tub, they quit eating.

Re: 15-Qt Rack
I had a 600 gram girl in a 6 qt. They like those small spaces!

Re: 15-Qt Rack
I have some big boys and girls in 15qt tubs from 300 to 900 grams. I move them at about 1000 grams, into the 32qt rack. I believe they like it, the tighter the better you know.

Re: 15-Qt Rack
as a matter of fact when i try to move some of the girls into the 32qt rack they get crazy and try and miss a few meals so i put them back.

Re: 15-Qt Rack
Yep I've also got some 800 to 1,000 grammers in my 15 qt rack. Granted it's time to move them up but they seem unaffected...still nice tempered on the whole, still snatching up dinner like rats are about to be outlawed, gaining, shedding and just generally being nice ball pythons to own. :)

Re: 15-Qt Rack
I don't actually have any 15 qt. racks, however, I do have some racks with 9 qt. tubs and an ARS hatchling rack. What I can say from experience, is, don't worry about the weight of the animal in a tub. Monitor the snakes appearance and habits. Meaning, if the snake continues to eat and can themoregulate efficiently, then the tub is not too small. If you notice that your snake is starting to look a little cramped, and it starts to miss meals when it never did before, then it's time to move it up. As many other members have stated in this thread, when they move their animals into larger enclosures, they start eating more sporadically. Keep them in one place until they tell you that it is not fitting anymore. Hope that helps.
p.s. I too have some fairly large yearlings in some pretty small tubs. They seem to like it that way.

Re: 15-Qt Rack
I go from hatchling tubs to 6 quart to 32 to CB-70's. If I have a nervous nanny I leave her in the smaller tub longer. i myself move my 200 grams snakes to 32 quart tubs and have never had a problem but they are all different. I say do what the snake prefers. The biggest tubs I use are the Freedom breeder CB-70-8 tubs. They are the same dimensions as the CB70's only 8" tall. I like them for my big girls and breeding. They are also white with an acrylic window in front so i can peek in without disturbing anyone. Also i like the height so my big breeding adults don't get wedged inbetween their hide, eachother and the top of the rack and the bottom of the tub.
But everyone has their own ritual. LOL

So how long would you keep in the ARS hatcling rack until you move them into your CB-70s? I just noticed ARS has come out with a new medium size rack like FB has. Originally they only had the hatchling rack and the 70 series rack. I eventually plan on only using ARS hatchling and 70 series and bypassing their "30 series" rack.
