How much do albinos run? Is there anywhere you can get a cheap albino online?

They run from $800- $1500 it all depends, but the more expensive ones have a higher contrast... I personally would go with a high contrast and pay a little extra.. Just my :2cent:

You could always do the het thing. Will take more time and you have to know who you are buying from, but not as much of an up front cost.

The het way is going to be a thing of the past fairly soon I think, unless the prices come down for female hets. Why spend 400$ for a pair of hets and raise them for 3 years before even getting a chance at an albno. When you could save a couple dollars and just buy one straight up a year later.

i think hets will be around for a long time. they are a good way to outcross. alot of breeders use morph females for double,triple het projects.
i think it depends on what you want to do also. if you just want an albino, buying may be better? if you want to produce albinos, having alot of het girls is a good thing!

Yes they do. ALL of them will fade from their bright juvinile colors, some more then others.

No one is getting $1500 for an albino anymore. I think the actual selling price is more like $500 to $800 for a hatchling. I just bought a very nice male in Daytona for $550.

This girl I met at a show then got RIPPED OFF them hahaha, she spent $1500 on a high contrast albino.

I've seen some adults that are really faded, but not all white. The one thing I agree on with MKR is that the only real high contrast albino is the lavender. Some are higher contrast than others, but the term is thrown around so much that almost every ad for an albino is a "High Contrast". Some are a little more faded than others, but they are all albinos. And yeah, the price is dropping quite a bit. I'd probably let my '06 albino male and '06 het pair go for what your friend paid at the show for 1 hatchling.
