    Edited Images
Just felt like ranting a little bit... I've been seeing a lot of edited images as far as brightness and contrast, sometimes even color balances, of ball pythons, whether they are for sale or just to show off an animal. The way I see it, is that it is fine to edit an image to try to make it represent the snake's true look more accurately... but I get rather annoyed when images are edited in a way to make it look "better" than it really is. One of the easiest ways to decide if an image has been "overedited" is by looking at the background. If the snake is on aspen, and you can hardly even see the aspen anymore because the photo has been so washed out with brightness, then obviously the snake is being misrepresented. Also, if the background looks discolored. I saw a photo of some Burgandy ball pythons the other day, yet the whole background had a pinkish wash to it, where it would not normally be that color. One more thing is hands... a lot of times people will shoot a photo of their snake being held in someone's hand... if the color or brightness is off on the skin color of the hand, you know that the snake does not actually look the way it does in the photo.

Maybe it's just me being overly particular about things, but it's just one of those things that really gets my goat. :P

Oh my gosh... I totally forgot about that! Editing the width/height ratio to make the snakes look fatter than they really are... and here I thought that was an honest mistake!

There is no limit to the scumbaggery in business. The reptile world has a lot of very desperate people right now. Luckily its hard to hide it for too long, especially with doctored pictures!

The only editing I do is resizing the images. Some people take it to the extreme and try to get over on others.

I resize and change brightness if the photo was taken under bad lighting. But I never try to make the snake appear like something it is not.

I see a lot of overdone pictures on kingsnake, especially the one with Pastels and high contrast Albino's. That's just sad...

I always use Photoshop for my pictures, but just to add contrast, sharpness or color if the picture is really pale. But that's because I think the picture should reproduce an image of how the snake really looks.

Rapture I think the real problem is the lack of good photoshoppers...also it all comes down to the camera...Take a look at my pic i submitted in BPOM #2

You think it is photoshopped to enhance quality...(obviously the seminole thing is added :))?

LOL, I have to admit to adjusting the brightness in a photo to make the background whiter. Poor quality lighting will do that to ya... :/

My peeve is about my own pics; the flash sometimes washes the snakes out. But I never edit mine and would say if I did; anyone should do the same.

the only editing i use on mine is the 'enhance' feature. it just automatically adjusts the lighting a little... if it's too bright, it'll darken it a bit, and vice versa. basically, fixes the flash! lol

Hmm, you'd have a heck of a time with my hands then, seeing as how I'm an albino and in pictures my hands look either real white or very pink. ;)

You have to take into account monitor settings, what may appear as just right and representing the animal/s perfectly for the person adjusting their images on their monitor.... may look overly bright and a deliberate attempt to make something look way better then it is on someone elses screen or dull on someone elses.
