some people SHOULD have pets... yup, i'm talking about me

okay okay... i know... i'm insane. but hey, she needed a good home. here's the story...

we've named her Brandy Sarah Louise... and she needed to be rescued. we have no idea what she is... i know she's a dog but we don't know what kind. she'll go to the vets on tues and get a once over and her first shots...

here's the long version of her story.

lady's son came home with her sometime yesterday. she found puppy in the yard, outside in the rain (it snowed near here last night so it was coooold) with her 4 adult rotties. all she knows is she came from a reservation near here (indian reservation).

lady can't keep her... as she is caring for a man who's dieing of cancer, working there with him 20 hours a day... and he didn't want a pup around (understandable) that's not potty trained and whining.

so my girlfriend called me tonight and asked if would take her. she needed a home asap - and we, of course, said yes.

so that's her story... here's her pictures!

I've been around dogs (showing and breeding) most of my life. Could be she's a heinz 57. Are ther any pics of the rest of her (top, sides, etc.)?

She looks like a purebred Canardly. They are quite common in rural areas. ;-)

well that's amazing cause we have another purebred canardly. we've figured out she's german shepherd and rhodesian ridgeback... her parents were burnese mtn dog and malamute LOL

here's an updated pic of her: she's soooo my dog. she has to come to the bathroom with me, every single time i go. she comes everywhere with me... as long as i'm not going somewhere that she has to wait in the car as i don't let her come then. i feel she's better off in the house and back yard instead of in a car alone. but she's my lovey girl... and such a good girl. just an angel.

we think our new pup, brandi has some hound dog in her as well... she slept well last night. has REALLY picked my hubby as her 'person'. she goes nutty when he leaves the room... it's adorable. *wipes sleep from her eyes* reaaaaaaaaaally adorable :P

so i guess she's our kinderegg pup... never know what she is till she outgrows her chocolatey coating

Quite possibly one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen... hope all goes well at the vet.

Oh she is a little cutie...

She has a beagle-ish looking face, around her muzzle. The shape of her face just shouts beagle to me. Very very cute.

we just noticed she has a little ridge... like annabella does, so she may have some rodesian ridgeback in her as well.

her fur is brown... but with black undertones. annabella is black with grey undertones which makes her look 'patchy' like she's missing hair here and there.

today we take her to get a collar.

beagle seems definitely possible. and rapture... she's even cuter in real life!

Brandi's my 6 year old... the one who insisted on seeing the face that belonged to the tattoo. :P

I wish I had a dog. :( Maybe if we do get this house we want and after we get it fenced we'll get one but Mike has his heart set on two specific breeds.... and both will cost lots of $$$$$ to get.

a friend on another forum just made a suggestion and we can't believe how much she look like a vizsla. when she plays... when she walks... she looks just like the dog in this link... exactly except smaller.

we are going to go with a cross between a vizsla and a ridgeback.

Her body type looks too stocky for a vizsla, her posture doesnt suggest the grace and gait of one either. She looks more like a retriever, (I know the visla is a retriever)... I'll look around and see what I can find. She is beautiful though

Im gonna say retriever and maybe** some ridgeback. I guess it depends on what popular way up there. ;) Cant wait to see her all grown up!! :sunny:

Yeah, it might be easier to tell when she's older and doesn't have so much of the puppy fat and fluff. That can make it more difficult to tell. Of course with a mix, you're unlikely to get a perfect breed gait and stance anyway.

It looks like the two dogs get along well too which is totally cool. :D

When i was first reading this post i was thinking either rhodesian ridgeback or vizsla. Turns out i'm not the only one thinking along those lines. Would be great if she was, they make fabulous friends/pets!

well we've just had a devastating phone call. turns out this is someone else's dog... at least that's the story we are getting.

phone call at 7:30 this morning: hi aleesha, this is _______ - turns out that puppy has a home so can you bring it back right away please. the owner has been trying to reach me all weekend and is devastated that her puppy was gone.

i said... what? you told me....

and she said, well i was wrong. it's a purebred pit bull and they want their dog back.

i told her about how upset my little one is going to be... how upset we all will be since we are in total absolutely complete love with this little angel...

but... she goes back. :rainon:

supposedly the woman was getting her house fumigated for fleas (which i don't believe cause there's not a fleas on this little one... not one) and so she left her puppy in the freezing cold rain in this woman's yard with 4 huge rotties... and didn't come back for her for 24 hours.

makes no sense... my friend who knows these people is going over to talk to them around 10...

what a mess... what a huge mess.

but to us... she sure doesn't look pure bred pit. does she to anyone who knows pits well?

Wow Aleesha.....that just sucks! But the story does sound very weird and suspicious. Please, please follow up and be absolutely sure before turning the puppy over to anyone. Although, obviously, if it does belong to someone else, you have to. :(

ya, my girlfriend is going over there to talk to her and her son... and try to get the real story. cause the story she told my friend when she needed a home for the pup and the one she told me today (this is the story she said she told my friend) didn't add up at all.

so... we need to find out what's really going on.

Aww Aleesha I am sorry to hear that.

Let your friend talk to her, do not give that puppy back until you are 100% sure. Something sounds very fishy to me. I would personally talk to them and find out if they can provide any proof to you that this dog belongs to them.

Personally and maybe this is just me, if I were bug bombing my house my pets especially a puppy would be at a relatives inside where its warm, or boarded at my wonderful vets office.

That puppy also doesn't have a pit look to her. I just don't see it, definitely not purebred, maybe a mix but I just don't see it.

Pry and Pry and get all the info you can, keep that baby safe. It sounds to me like someone is trying to pull a fast one on you.
Also maybe have her checked for a microchip. Check with shelters to see if she has been called in as lost.

Now I can't claim to know a whole lot about pitts, but I've seen plenty of pit pups and that does not look like a "pure bred" to me.

I agree, I wouldn't just hand over the pup until you know what's going on for sure and yeah, if the house was being flea bombed then the pup would have had at least *some* fleas or eggs on her... it doesn't add up.
While cold will kill fleas, I doubt that 24 hours of it would be sufficient to kill off all the fleas on her.
Anyway, yeah, make sure of the truth before you just go handing her over and try to get proof that the lady even is the pup's rightful owner.

that's what we're doing. my friend is over there now, talking to them and she is going to insist meeting with the owner as well before she hands over the pup.

brandi is still with us... safe and sound and will remain until we know what's going on.

I have had pits and mixed pits, truthfully that little beauty looks nothing of a pure bred...and actually nothing of a mix. Couldn't tell you what breed / mix she is though.

But I do think someone is trying to pull your leg.

Maybe the lady you got her from just noticed the 'Reward' sign tacked up on the telephone pole down the road and she doesn't want to share.

I was going to say that it looks like there is some labrador retriever in there. I'm certainly no expert, but I grew up with a few labs when I was a kid and she kind of reminded me of them. I wouldn't believe pit bull, but who knows?

well the "owner" says she is a pure bred and then when we said, "ah no it isn't" she said well, ya i know it isn't.

bottom line, the puppy is being returned in a few minutes. the police have been involved and the pup has to go back.

Awww I am so sorry. There are no words to make it better I know, but its obvious you love her. People can be so vicious sometimes, and I hope someone wasn't lieing about the dog.

Heinz 57 from the humane society.

I was told boxer and pit mix, she is just a very sweet 50 pounds girl, very protective of me. Can be very high-energy aggravating dog (usually with my hubby) or very laid back, lazy, loving dog (usually with me)

I apologize for responding to this, as it's SO much later than when originally posted, but the "Pure Bred Pit Bull" caught my attention. That is NOT a pure bred pit bull. My Labrador/Pit looks more pitty that that cute little face you posted! The person that told you she's pure bred, better get their facts straight. I'm almost an expert on the breed (ok, not quite, but i'm pretty good!), and I have a pure little red girl right here next to my feet.

I suppose one might be able to see a slight resemblence (spelling?)...perhaps maybe, just maybe, somewhere in that doggy blood in her, she might have a hint of pit, but wow...that person's nuts if they think she's pure. I agree with the ridgeback and beagle/hound comments. Her face looks very similar to the chow/beagle/lab/Heinz 57 I had.

my daughter's friend's parent adopted two of her sisters... (hey it's a small town i figured i'd meet a sibling at some point) they say the parents are:

mom - pit
dad - rottie

i still don't see it, especially since all the siblings look exactly (in colouring, body everything) like this little one. we still miss her like crazy... amazing how something can get into your heart and not let go. :(

how's this for a wonderfully amazing turn of events. the people who had the two sisters decided two puppies and a brand new human baby were too much... so we got one of the sisters today!!! she looks just like brandi. her name is kayla! i'll take pics soon.

nice part... she's potty trained almost completely already!!! what a deal!
