    Anyone got a Woma?
These seem like really real snakes.

They are said to be very handable, great temperament, and can handle many temperature extremes (cold/hot).

They also do this cool thing shaking their tail to attract prey.

    Anyone have one?

If so do you have any pics of them to post?

    Also, how big are yours?

I am now up to two females and two males.

Not only do they have the hands down best temperaments of any snake I've kept, they are a breeze to keep. My 06 male is 44" long, my 07 male is about 23", our females both 06s and are about 38" long.

I have a thread here with a picture of my son holding one of the males. I will post a pic of the younger male in a bit.

90 degrees on the hot end, about 82 on the warm. I drop the temps down 5 degrees at night.

They have no special humidity needs and mine shed just fine at about 45%.

I cannot say enough about their temperaments. Our herp vet told me that she had never considered owning a snake before (she's into tortoises and lizards) until she met Noodles - our older male. She's now asking for a reservation on the first clutch.

When we bring the snakes in for their yearly check-ups, Noodles is the first one checked. He then gets passed among the techs who take turns cuddling with him.

Our vet says that he is the first snake she has seen that seems to thrive on handling.

Depends - you can get a male from $350 to $750. Prices are coming down a bit as more and more are available.

Female are harder to get - most are sold with males as a pair - $1,200 to $1,800 for a pair.

I was able to get my single females for $750 and $800 - shipped.

Womas are wonderful snakes to keep - beautiful, hardy, fantastic feeders. Looking forward to pairing mine up this year, now that my best female is (finally!) of age. :D

Keep in mind that womas are where the antaresia spp were a few years ago....

By that I mean that it wasn't but a few years ago that every antareasia was a children's python. Now there are four species and breeders are more careful about keeping the different spp. pure.

There are several locality womas that are distinct in several way some examples:

    Boodarie
    Tanami
    Uluru
    Pilbara

Some breeders are just selling "womas". While others are starting to realize that each locality spp. should be kept pure.

If you browse the Australian snake forums, you will see that they are a bit pickier than us when it comes to keeping the localities separate.

Here are a few pics of some of ours. We have 5 females that have already started breeding with males, so we should have a few nice clutches coming up here pretty quick!!! As for keeping them, they are great snakes with great personalities and are a ton of fun to keep!!! Anyway, here are the pics.

Those are certainly Beautiful Ben. I love the red color and the banding appears to be really crisp and clean. I've seen Womas before that were sold as 'hypos' where the banding seemed to be kind of fuzzy and not very distinct. Are those a specific locality? Or just a different color phase?

    Re: Anyone got a Woma?
Mark, thanks for the kind comments. Well, we actually got EXTREMELY lucky and were able to pick up 4.4 of Python Pete's holdback womas. When we left his house he literally no longer had any womas left, they were his very last ones (was an emotional moment for Pete). So anyway, these have been line bred for color and contrast for many years, and these were the best Pete had, and they are VERY nice. Have to pinch myself still each time I look at them even though we have had them for about a year and a half now :) . So, our hopes are very high that we will get some show stoppers out of these clutches this year.

Really nice Womas. I have a question-what size tub is that? It seems like they have similar heat requirements as balls, so can I keep them in a 41 qt rack? It seems like it would work.

they cost a lot because there aren't 5 trillion of them in US collections like balls or corns. they're one of those snakes you gotta see in person too...
australian addiction's are easily the nicest i've seen in the US.
