Ball Giveaway

Has this site ever had any kind of contest or drawing for a free ball giveaway?

That would be a really cool addition.

Not for me cause I have no room for another whatsoever but I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

If you are talking about ball pythons as the give a way I feel that would be totally wrong. I don't think winning a contest makes a good care giver of an animal. Not everyone can care for animals properly. Someone may take the animal because they won but not really have the means to care for it , or even really wanting it.

Eh; i think that it'd be a bad idea too. I always get nervous when I see those "Horse Raffles" that they have, where they raffle off a horse.. any schmuck could win it. Maybe if the entries were screened? But then you could say that it is skewed against people who might be good caretakers and not well-known.. maybe it'd be a bad idea overall.

Part of the entry qualification could be a brief husbandry questionaire. It makes more sense than some of the other ideas I've seen (finding a specific image or phrase on the site, for example).
Then too, I think the folks who are giving away free snakes expect the winner to pay the shipping costs, so that will deter most of the people who only have a casual interest.

May be not a give away but maybe as the prize for the BPOTM winner someone quitely donate a Het or Pasel male and then

BAM! the winner get this CHA CHING

I personally would like if this happened... because if I won, I would be able to provide it with proper care. It's a different story when you throw a lot of people into the mix. :P

I do believe that it's illegal by law to give away a live animal as a contest prize in some states. Don't quote me on it though...I don't have any of the links to the site's where I got the information off of and I cannot verify the authenticity of said information.

I'm not sure which states either. But I have heard it's illegal in some. I myself would never trust just anyone to hand a living animal to as a prize. The best route is to give away prizes such as herp supplies or T-SHIRTS (like Adam has). Yes, I love my t-shirt Adam.:)

The staff has discussed the idea in the past, and ultimately said, "No thank you." The legality behind live-animal give-aways would vary so much between different locations that it would be impossible for us to be sure of meeting all legal obligations. Not to mention the fact that, like some others, I personally find it an uncomfortable thought to consider giving a live animal away to some random person I may know nothing about.

I would think BP net should give away BPnet merchandise. If in fact there was some kind of prize for something that is. :D

Last month Varnyard Herps gave away a baby Tegu on theTegu.com. People had to write a Tegu care sheet, they were judged, and the best one got the Tegu.

Stickers or an award(eg. genetics guarantee) would be good. Or maybe an Accurite. I dont mind donating for server or for a contest to help another member out. :)

On a different forum the admin has a thing where if you can guess the day one of his clutchs hatch( He tells you the day the snakes breed, but now when they were layed), you get a free Ph pied if your guess is right. Then i think its the person who guesses the nearest without going over that wins if no one guess exactly.

For web based breeders, a draw could be held for people who have purchased a bp in the past, and sign a ballot entered into the draw recognizing the responsibility expected if they were the winner, but I don't think it could work for b-p.net

when i was into spiders arachnoboards did this every month. they would design some sort of quiz or other type of game and they were HARD. like they would take a picture of just a spiders eyes and I mean a closeup and first person to guess what the genus and species was would win. it was a lot of fun and they would give away some pretty expensive spiders too. I'm not sure if it would work for here though.

Something I thought would be cool is have a clutch of eggs from a pairing like Pastel. Lets say there are 5 eggs. Have five people put down a payment like $100 on a specific egg (number the eggs). When the eggs hatch they have a chance of getting a female normal, male normal, pastel male, and a pastel female. So you pay $100 for a specific egg and you might end up with a pastel female but you might end up paying $100 for a normal male. It would be an interesting game.

how about a few members put in a few tings, maby a 8ball shirt, a pastel, maby some equipment and have raffle or an auction to raise money for the site.

ill have a few pastels at the end of the year that i would be glad to give away to raise money for the site.

i guess you could make requirements like a miimum number or post or have to be a member of the site for so long or somethin along thoes lines
