I love it! No negativity just a bunch of laughs!
Hate is outdated and overrated. :salute:
I thought this thread was going to be about the rally the buddist monks lead, but it was better.
Gotta love it! :)

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
I've never gotten into the whole protesting thing because... well... they tend to either get violent or just plain stupid so when I read this it was a breath of flour...errrr, fresh air. :D
WIFE POWER!!!!!! :carrot:

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
So awesome!! That's the bestest ever.
All they needed was to add in some "Free Hugs" people.
The only counter to hate is love.

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
THat was pretty B.A. I would have loved to see that in person.

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
This is probably the only kind of "protest" I'd ever take part in... and I'd love every minute of it!
I don't like clowns but by gosh, I'd be painting my face and putting on the big shoes for something like this! :carrot:

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
Hm.. how can I put this without sounding like some sort of racist moron..? I do not like nor support the KKK. They are militant and warped in many ways, as anyone who has ever researched them instead of going on blind faith can attest. However.. ok.. the clowns are mocking them for saying "white power." Great. I am not a racist by nature.. but it is verry trying when I watch the evening news and see black groups holding "black power" rallies and having their own channel on TV and please do not even get me started on affirmative action. My belief is, the human being that is most qualified for a job or school position should get it; it should not be based on their race or sex.
I really am not racist and do not intend to sound like I am. But it is not fair that as whites, we are always shamed for sticking up for our race, while other races are applauded and condoned for doing it. I realllllly honestly wish that all stupid "insert race here"--power" groups would be gone, be they black, white, purple, blue power. It is all rubbish and only serves to further instigate racial tensions and hate and inequities. But as is often proven, these times are by NO means enlightened or fair enough.. people can't even get over themselves religiously to tolerate other religions.. not to even mention people of other races or sexual orientations.. how sad people are. Shame on the KKK indidentally.. their group is based on cowards who could not even show their faces!

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
I thought you worded that very well Jen and no, you didn't sound raciest at all. You make good points, although I must point out one that you forgot.... some races have an entire *month* dedicated to themselves. ;)
Sad as it is, racism seems to be so integrated into our world and American society in particular that the whole thing is one huge hypocritical joke.
Not to downplay my belief that the KKK and Nazis are a few cards short of the deck, just that, like Jen said, racism is everywhere and we accept it every day without even thinking about it. :(

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
Any "ism" tends to be a bit ridiculous. How about I start a group...
Middle Aged Brunette's Who Dye Their Hair To Hide The Grey Power!!!!!!
That makes about as much sense as any of the rest of them.
I do love those clowns though....clowns protesting another group of "clowns". Gotta love it! :carrot:
(Btw if anyone's interested the group will meet at the park, march to WalMart for the deal on kitchen supplies, then march over to Target, then maybe have a lovely coffee and donut over at Tim Horton's, then we'll really hit our stride on the march over to pick up the dry cleaning and the kids from school....BE AFRAID...BE VERY AFRAID!!!!)

Re: A non violent way to protest... that works!
First off I want to say that because of seeing Stephen King's "It" when I was like 7 I hate clowns but those guys were great. WIFE POWER.
Second, Jen, the reason I think the reason we are shamed for sticking up for our race is because the KKK and Nazis have made themselves the spokesmen for white people. So because of those inbreed rednecks all non-racist white people slip in to white guilt (guilt for what white people have done long ago or a small handfull are still doing). I agree with you, white, black,or purplebe proud of who you are as an independant person.

I took Business Law last semester so I know a thing or two about affirmitive action.
What the statute basically says is that in the circumstance there is a minority and a white, who ar equally qualified, applying for the same position, the minority must be hired. There are certain other criteria and I believe that the law applys for women as well, but that's the basic jist of it.
Just letting you know so that you are better informed on the issue.
As for the anti-racists, I totally agree with what they are doing. Its awesome. The way I look at racism is, even if one takes morals and ethics out of the equation, and look at racism in a pragmatic way, one is still going to benefit by not being racist. In all honosty, one is not going to get far in life by being racist. You never know what color your next boss is going to be. Or what religion your co-workers might be. Prejudices are ignorant and in no way help to advance society. I might as well say I hate brown eyed people. Its ludacris.

Well, I'm not middle aged but I *do* have white hair that I love to color from time to time.
Now you're going to need a spokesperson... a "PR guy" so I volunteer for the position... I've got a big mouth, know how to get people's attention and can usually be *at least* as obnoxious as most action groups. :D
The first thing that will need to be done is this new "movement" will need an official name... an "ism". ;)

Strictly according to law, that is true, however in real life, it doesn't always work that way.
Example:
You have a white person, African American person and a physically disabled person...
If all three are equally qualified for the job, the employer will hire whoever will fill their mandatory quota of "minorities" first.
If the three do *not* have equal qualifications but all are exceptable for the job, although one may be more qualified for the job than another; the employer will look at his/her minority quota *first* and see what needs to be filled. If he/she does not have enough African Americans employed, that person will be hired.
If the quota of disabled is lacking, that person will be hired.
If all minority requirements are filled, the white person will be hired... unless one of the others is better qualified for the position.
Often times, depending on where a person lives and who the employer is will depend on who is hired. There are indeed many times when a white will be hired even though a Native American or woman (of whatever race) is more qualified.
