    Under Rated morph
Last weekend at a show I saw the nicest pastel ball I've ever seen, both in pictures and in person. My male is right up with some of the nicest I've seen, so I went up and asked the seller if it was a Bell line. Yep. We then had a discussion about how Bells are the cleanest looking pastels, yet they seem to be at the bottom of the pastel popularity list. Even polls on here about "Your favorate pastel line" are all about Graziani, Blonde and Lemon pastels. Is there a reason they don't get the same hype as lemons or blondes? This Bell was was almost solid yellow and black, except for some awesome blushing. He had a very reduced pattern and was clean and sharp with a reduced pattern. As soon as I realized it wasn't a bee, I knew it was a Bell. Why are Bells so overlooked?

Here was my bell linepastel that passed recently :(

I agree bell's seem to be under-rated when personally bell's are most often my favorite. Although I see stunning Graz or Lemons, I also see a large ammount of very ugly pastels from these lines. I do not see Bell line nearly as often but nearly every bell line I've seen has been stunning. This is not to say that there are not ugly pastels in the bunch either, but I personally think this is the line I prefer. Also, My Roomate ArcticBlue also has a bell line, that although I do not think is as pretty as this, it is very pretty. I'm also hoping that like mine, it gets brighter as it grows.

Pastels are pastels regardless of line...each line has examples of higher and lower quality animals with different shades and patterns...it all depends what you're looking for as far as the "ideal" pastel. Buy a pastel because it makes you say...WOW...not because it is a certain line.

    Hope this helps.

I agree and when looking for a pastel I look at the breeders I know and trust, and the quality of animals they currently have. I just agreed with the above poster that I believe Bell Line is underated. Although all lines have goods and bads, I hear about Graz and Lemon all the time, Blondes pretty often, not the mention the Enchi's (which I have to be honest I'm not very fond of, just not my cup of tea) but I do not hear much about bells and I think its kind of weird

    Just my :2cent:

Enchis don't 'work' quite the same as pastel... although also codominant, they are a whole different morph...however they are regularly called enchi pastels. They are a very subtle morph that to be truly appreciated needs to be seen in person.

I've only seen two in person, and I wasn't a fan of them to be honest. Although I did find the stinger bee to be appealing, but really, a spider mixed with anything makes me smile. :D

Even though there is huge difference between pastel lines and the enchi pastel's, i think the enchi's are awesome. I want one or two in my collection....

Proud and happy owner of a Bell. I've seen nicer pastels from other lines (and ugly pastels from Bell) but I'm happy with him. I do notice you see more mention of Graziani and Lemon and Blonde, though. I do agree that you should buy based on the individual animal and on the parents, rather than the line.

I also agree that Enchi and pastel are two distinct and separate morphs, each with their own place and value.

He likely will darken up, but he's got color like that of a lemon (referring to the fruit, not the line! XD) and I think he's beautiful.

    XD Course, I'm biased.

Here's an old picture of my 660g male Bell. The one I saw at the show was just awesome though. It was 800g and I almost bought it to replace this guy, as it blows mine away. I honestly thought it was a bee until I got closer. I'm still thinking about buying him. I agree that there are good and bad looking pastels from each line, but, from what I've seen, Bells are able to make some of the cleanest ones, so it suprises me that they are always the last line you hear about when talking about which line has the best potential.

Its true the enchis are a different morph pretty much. From what i understand, you cant make super pastels from Enchis and whatever other line you have. I hope this makes sense. Oh well.

Look at what the enchi does in combos...if it was just another line of pastel...I don't think the differences would be that great.;)

    Re: Under Rated morph
There have been crosses between pastel (lemon etc.) and enchi, and they didn't make a super form, but a double morph; like a bumblebee as opposed to just getting a leucistic when you breed a mojave and a, say, lesser together, which suggests that the pastel and enchi are two completely different morphs as opposed to different forms of the same morph.

I didn't know this, although that's very interesting. Does anyone have any pictures of what you get when you mix a pastel with an Enchi?
