I am really.. bummed today.. sigh.
I am so upset right now. My intended holdback normal female out of Ginger's clutch escaped. She somehow slid her tub out from the setup we have for the babies; I think that I left a little of it opened last night, I don't know but there is no other explanation for it. There was an opening about half of an inch wide that she had to have gotten through. I already beat myself up about it mentally and I felt so bad telling Mark about it as he is sad about it too. Our stupid screen door has a 2-inch gap so she could even have gotten outside. We tore through the whole house with no dice.
I just wanted to vent here and hope that it at last might raise awareness of our keeping an eye on cages when we close them.. crap though am I bummed and it is a bleak day for me now. :(

    I know the feeling... :(

I hope she turns up. Make sure you check those tiny places that you think she can't be...that's typically where they are :)

Keep searching. I lost Lira for two days once, I was certain she got outside, and found her in my pajamas drawer. You never know, and never give up!
I hope you find her soon. :(

Every snake I've ever had escape always showed up. Some within hours - the longest 6 months. Do you have any cats or dogs? They're great for finding lost snakes - if you see one paying extra attention to a pile of clothes or a random corner then I'd investigate that area pretty closely. Good luck finding her.

We have one cat. The good thing about him is, he is really not much of a hunter; more fat and lazy. But definately I will be watching him for signs that he sees anything (although at the moment he is curled up in a nap on the couch, hehe.)
Thanks for your words guys.. I am hoping that she shows up. She was a great little eater and I really want her back.. Mark is even more upset than I am.

oh dear.. I hope you find her again and soon. Its such a crappy feeling to have em escape. I'm still looking for my normal corn Hannah, she escaped about a week after I got her and has been mia ever since :(. Good luck in your searching.

Jen, you've been around here long enough to know it happens. And also that they nearly always show up! You'll find her! Also, its been my experience that when they do come home, they will sometimes go off feed for a while. Don't fret it if it happens, she'll pick up and be as good as new! Finally, don't forget that they often show up within just a few feet of their enclosures. So concentrate in that area. Go in there with a flashlight several times at night being very quiet and listening for movement. You already know all the tricks!!! Best of luck!

Sorry to hear Jen, i am sure she will turn up. come feeding day your gonna see here sitting on top of her tub with a big snake grin....

when i moved all my snakes into my homemade rack i didn't account for the gap with my corn snakes. and yep i lost 2 for them. one i think actually went through a hole that i soldered originally for the thermostat probe. i just have hope that they will come back.

What a bummer for sure. No use in beating yourself up over it, worrying about your snake is punishment enough. Hopefully everything will work out, my fingers are crossed!

    Congrats on finding her! :carrot:

Sometimes I get that feeling of "Did I put the cage clips back on Zim's cage?" and I've actually turned around and gone back home to make sure. I've fallen into a routine now of double checking each lock on every single cage I have. Escapes are no fun and I'm very happy to hear you found her. I did the same thing when I found Zim after I thought she had escaped.

    Congratulations!!

4 of our snakes have escaped. 1 for 10 minutes, 2 for 3 days each, and my Brazilian Rainbow Boa was gone for 9 weeks. Like someone had said, look for you mammal pets acting strange and you'll find your snake. One of our cats was playing with it!

I am still thinking of a name :) The one that fits best is not family friendly and resembles the phrase "little "poop".." lol

    Jen,
Congrats on finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. That girl has now had a taste of the outside world and will be looking to take some more vacations. Make sure you keep her enclosure very secure.

    'Tis a very good point!

I think Gypsy would be a very appropriate name for the little wanderer. :D

Years ago I had a water snake that used to get out of his tank for days untill he got hungry then I would hear a splash and he was back in his tank looking for lunch. Kinda like a teenager. A couple of gold fish later he was out painting the town red again. At the time I lived the same way so I didn't see any problem with this behavior. Who knew?

LMAO at the name little 'poop'. I'm laughing because years ago we had a cat named Poopy. Well its name was Poopy only because my brother and I were so young and we couldn't use her proper name of Little S***. :D

lol. I love the name Gypsy and it is sticking. It fits in with my mystical tendencies with names.. I will transfer her former name, Ouiji, to my Pastel female keeper. Thanks Judy!
