Pewter.
There is some debate as to if the Cinni and black pastel are the same gene like with the lesser and Mojave and Butter genes

Re: Pewters...
Here's one to throw you for a loop:
Say you bought a 'cinny' that was from a super (black pastel X cinny) bred to a normal...so they are in essence a cross of black and cinny...
What would a 'black pastel cinny' X super pastel be called...
Streak...or Sterling? Streakling? :P

by black pastel cinny I don't mean super cinny. It is a 'mutt' for the lack of a better term... offspring from a Super (which was created using a black pastel and cinnamon) bred to a normal. The don't look like either...they look like both.
It leads me to question what this 'mutt' bred to a super pastel would produce.
Hope this makes sense.

Re: Pewters...
a super pastel to a cinny will not give you a sterling, you have to do a pastel or super pastel to a pewter, so both snakes have the pastel gene,
thats like saying a super pastel to a spider would give you a killer bee
errrrrrrrrrrr wrong!!!

Depends on what was used to make the blue eyed lucy and the super cinny (what would you call a homozygous black pastel? How about the super from black pastel X cinnamon? Are they all called super cinny?).
Basically you would be breeding two homozygous animals. If the lucy gene and the cinnamon gene are different genes you would get 100% double hets. If they are different mutations of the same gene I don't think double het would technically be the right word but still they would carry one copy of a mutation that makes a white snake and one copy of a mutation that makes a black snake so somewhat the same as a double het.

I'd like to see the results of that breeding. I'm wondering if you wouldn't produce an even split of fully cinnamon and fully black pastel (assuming there is a consistent difference in the two lines which is my understanding). That assumes the differences in the lines are due to different mutations of the same gene. Now if you did get a spectrum of intergrades and mutts then maybe they are the same mutation and other genes in each line give the different looks. But that would be a little surprising to me given that the lines seem to be distinguishable this long through outbreeding from the original imports.

Sorry I responded so late Brett, but you got the other half in your box with the rest of your snakes. Good luck on that Pewter. I see it in your future.

Thanks Tim. Yeah I just realized that. The pastel is super clean and they've all shed and they look great. I will deffinitely be coming back to you for everything i need. Once i get another 6 or 7 grand, which won't be too much longer maybe a month or two i'm hoping to pick up a bunch more and a VPI axanthic female to go with that het male u sold me.
