Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Het for everything, she came with a special pair of dice and you roll them, whatever it lands on that is what she is het for. :D :D
You know you want a snake like that... :D

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Male het pied is in really bad shape, only 221g and my male that is the the same length is nearly twice that weight. Hes in a really really bad shed and the pre-owner said he was a really picky eater and would only eat live mice and ate two weeks ago and before that was 2 months....apparently, its not that picky of an eater, or it just really likes me :D :

and here he is in his container, you can see how bad off he is, gonna have to give him a lot of TLC.

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
I agree with you. Your het pied definitely looks in bad shape (skinny, bad shed). Hopefully in a couple of months you'll have him up to weight and that shed taken care of.
Now your albino, on the other hand, looks great. :sweeet:

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
dang man...Is that a damp paper towel you have him on?
I bet if you wet a towel and let him squeeze through it, it will get a lot of that off.
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Who the hell did they come from, shipping a snake in that condition is not acceptable?
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
no, thats the paper towel that was i nthe container with him. I did have him sitting a warm towel and got a lot of it off, but hes so small and fragile I am afraid of hurting him, plus he just ate so I have him in a humid tub with a bunch of balled up newspaper hoping that it will help scrape that crap off.
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Whats wrong with shipping them in a container like that?
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Hi,
I think he was more referring to the condition of the animal rather than the packaging but I might be wrong.
But if that came from a breeder or professional in that condition I for one would like to know who they were so I could avoid buying from them in the future. If its a rehomed rescue that was passed on quickly or something of course that's different.
The albino is cute as a button though.:)

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
The Dr. is correct no problem shipping them in tubs like, I was referring to the condition of the snake. From my experience snake with bad sheds like shed bad the first time, the second, the third and are a constant problem. Soaking them helps and you eventually get the bad shed off BUT the next time they go into shed you will have the same problem again. They almost seam to double shed all at once.
Be-careful with the size of your meal choices as well with animals with shed that bad. I think that the shedding issue is actually one having to do with the kidneys or liver. A meal of what would normally be considered acceptable size very well could end up killing that animal. Again I do not know why and I've only see that once before with captive born animals but I've seen it many times with CH.

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
That snake definitely looks like it needs to see the vet. I would have a fecal done on him, both direct smear and float, possibly centrifuge too. What was the breeder's reason for it not eating?
He may have a parasite problem that is preventing him from gaining weight, it could be a genetic disorder such as a liver shunt, it could be alot of things. Definitely keep his meals small though, you don't want to shock his system and cause his kidneys or liver to fail.
I only have one picky feeder, but once she got settled she pounds those mice. She's up to 3 a week now and is doing great. She's around 700g and is an 05, but is shedding normally and doing quite well. I keep her in a 15qt tub because if I move her to a 32qt, she stops feeding and gets very reclusive. I try not to handle her alot either, just when I clean her tub.

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
I would be getting my money back for that male "het pied" and to be honest I would not even trust it to be het pied. Your albino does look nice though. I also agree with Neil. Feed him smaller meals until you get him in better shape. Big meals like that are tough on their system when they are in such bad shape. Also make sure you are very strict with quaranteening all of these new animals. If it were me I would seriously consider buying a het pied male from another source and just keep that guy as a pet. A reputable breeder would not have sent that snake to you and if he can't be trusted to send you healthy animals than he certainly can't be trusted to provide you with an animal that is actually a het. I just would not want to spend all that time trying to prove him out only to find out that he is a normal. Good luck

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
I bought all the snakes from a member here on the board, along with a bunch of other items as well. so the male pied didn't really have it's own price. Once the rack system comes in and I get everyone settled in I am gonna take some pics as I am actually going to sell off my whole collection, including my other 2 normals I currently already own. I don't have a for sale post up yet as I dont have all the items in my possession for me to take pics of. All the other snakes look great, and you all saw the albino. The only one that is having a problem is the het pied. I will hang on to and help the het male as much as possible, but will let those interested in the collection know the condition hes in. I will say this, the price for everything I have to offer is crazy cheap.
Hopefully with time he will recover and get to where he needs to be.

OK...maybe I missed something...but I read this as you just bought 4 snakes and supplies and are going to flip them around with 2 more and sell them?
If so why did you buy them to begin with? Or did I miss this somewhere?

No, you didn't miss any thing. I had bought the collection and all the supplies with the intent of keeping them and breeding them down the road, but some stuff has come up and I am gonna let the whole collection go, I decided this before the snakes had come in, so the condition of the het pied has nothing to do with it, if it did, I wouldn't be doing everything I can to help it. I feel awful for the condition this poor snake is in. It does seem odd to buy a whole new collection then turn around and resell it, but some times :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: happens. I am selling the whole collection for the same price I paid, and actually cheaper since I will be throwing in what I owned prior to the new snakes. The for sale post will explain everything in more detail with pics of everything and the crazy low price.
but to stay on topic, this is the first time I have held an albino, on top of that, one that I own, and its an amazing feeling. :D :D

I can respect that...just thought I had missed something. Hope it all works out for you. :)

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Considering you plan on selling these animals on this site and you recieved the animals from someone on this site I think you should disclose who you got them from. So potenial buyers can be more informed.
The whole thing is kinda weird
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
I had already planned on saying who the previous owner was in the for sale thread. but it should be obvious enough of who I bought it all from when I am listing everything I am selling.
I will be the first to admit that it def seems odd. But you can ask people that know me in real life that talk on here, such as Nate or Tweets, that there is nothing fishy about what is going on and that I am not trying to rip anyone off, hell, I posted pics of a snake that is in horrible condition, would I have done that knowing it will hurt the resale value of it? No, cause I'm and honest trustworthy guy and I am not trying to scam anyone. I just want to break even and hook someone up with some really nice snakes, minus the one, and some really nice equipment.
I will with hold no information to anyone that ask questions or for pics. Like I said, I'm not trying to scam anyone or make a profit, just break even, which is why the price is crazy, I will charge the same price I paid, but throw in 2 additional snakes and equipment in.

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
I think possibly everyone should stop and consider a few things... Like the Shed cycle.
If it took two days to get shipped to sw204 it could have been packaged in the opaque phase and through all the stress of shipping and unregulated humidity - Started the very bad shed.
Most breeders, correct me if I'm wrong though, don't really 'play' with their snakes consistently like pet owners might, and so they may miss the blue phase even though they're caring for the snakes adequately.
Sorry, I'm just playing devil's advocate here because everyone is so ready to just jump on sw204me and the shipper even though no one really has a clue about anything that happened before the snake arrived... How about we are all patient and wait for the full story and I'm sure we'll get it.
Oh... And also, insulting the member who shipped it without the full story and stating negatives about them doesn't really help to find out what happened.
Sorry, just MHO... But please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Um... I almost want to half take this back as the male het looked to be in shed at the time of the original post and that was a long while ago... sw... Was there mention of possible shed issues with him?
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Not shed issue, he just said sorry for the bad pics as he is in shed right now. There was no mention of him having shed issues, just that he was in shed during the pics. He also left out the details of it being under weight and skinny. When I sent him a pm saying the pied looked to be in horrible shape, his reply was hes a picky eater...
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
IMHO If you are capable of rehabing him and getting him to eat, I would hold off selling him until he's healthy.... Definately not shipping at least...
Anyway, let me know how things go either way
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
That's not the look of a picky eater from what I'm seeing. I don't think a picky eater would let himself waste away to nothing, which is about what he is. Skin and bones.
And I agree, I would get him settled and fit before you ship him out again. The stress of shipping could just do him in.
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Turns out he has two sheds going on, and I am continuing on picking it off and getting him cleaned up, hes already looking a lot better, picks have been update in my for sale thread.

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
With all due respect, that boy should not be re-homed or shipped any time soon. I would first get him seen by a vet and then work on re-habbing him for a few months. Shipping him is risky at best - for his own well-being.

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
i just read these posts and the ad. sounds kind of weird to me. i don't think you are up to something, but it does look weird to buy someone's collection one day and flip them for sale the next day!
i'm just curious as to the motives to buy a snake one day and sell it the next??
if you were a flipper/wholesaler i could understand that.
stuff happens and things change in life, day to day.
good luck,
vaughn

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
There are no motives, I bought em, crap happened, and I really need the $1500.00 back. Pretty simple.
-
Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
Daniel, i know you are a good guy and not some scammer but the guy you got him from had no business shipping a snake in that condition. Hopefully whatever is wrong with him is not contagious. Best of luck and I hope it all works out. Glad to see he is getting some positive attention :)
