And you thought Ball Pythons could hiss.
I really don't agree with the cleanliness level that he keeps his surroundings and work area. But he does have some awsome hots. :D

    Hi,

Is this the same idiot that houses multiple hots in one cage and mentioned it was unusual to see them all eating nicely rather than striking at each other and has a ball in the same cage as a hot as well?

I hope not! Is it? I've never much liked Gaboons... remind me of Boa Constictors with monstrous features... gives me shivers.

    Hi,

Yeah it's the same guy. check out the thread about it here.

Personally I love the colouration and pattern of gaboon vipers but I am not really intrested in keeping hots even if it was legal where I live ( it isn't illegal per se but you need a license which the council has never granted to anyone - not even the zoo).

Gaboons are actually one of the few hots I would ever consider keeping. I think they're gorgeous snakes and supposedly they're comparatively easy going.

I couldn't get over how large his lung was, though. It seemed like his whole body would inflate and deflate with every hiss.

If I ever do hots, I agree, but I'd add eyelash vipers and rhino vipers as well.

But this guy had way too many things all around on the floor so he couldn't move well at all. Bad news in a hot room.

Yeah, and I don't think that the tease feeding is going to work at all for this gabby. He seemed exceptionally upset just having his cage opened...sticking a rapidly chilling feeder in his face over and over isn't going to work. The guy didn't even bother to rewarm the feeder!

I think I would have been more impressed by the hissing if the sound wasn't being filmed. I dunno...but I own Gopher Snakes....and I have seen one of them really really ticked off. I also think messing with him with the tongs was a bit much. I am impressed by the whole body inflating though.

Rhinos are the most amazing snakes ever, to look at, i wouldn't own one though. I love this hobby but it's not worth dieing over :dead: :snake:

That guy is pretty good, I have watched a lot of his videos. Despite a bit of a "mess" in his snake room he is well equipped and has some really nice animals. His dedication is evident as well and he seems to be quite careful with his animals. Watch his feeding vid with the red spitter for some fun.

I was also glad to see he got that gabby to eat. They are such cool snakes I would love one but just won't take on the responsibility for such dangerous snakes in my home.

I check Youtube for a new video of his almost daily, I seriously dig his videos. He is very experienced in keeping hots, he's been doing it since the 70's I beleive.

Click on his gallery on Youtube and watch his newest video where he unpacks two Mambas, one black and one yellow straight from Africa. He knows what he's doing even if it does look sloppy to us at times.

    Hi,

Did you watch the one where he lost one of his snakes behind the bookcase? - I think it was a king brown but I last saw my memory going over the wire in late '84 so I'm not certain.

Shouldn't the place you handle hots be clean and uncluttered to prevent things like that?

He does have some stunning looking animals - the gabby as mentioned and the rhinocerous viper in particular look amazing to me, but when he casually mentions snakes stealing the food out of other snakes mouths and 3 in one tank normally biting each other instead of the food I keep wanting to grab his snake hook and turn him into a tripod.

Re: And you thought Ball Pythons could hiss.
    dr del,

I did see that and it was indeed a juvi king brown. When I first started watching his videos I was a little alrmed also yet after watching all of his videos over the last couple of months I seriously think he plays it pretty safe. Watching his force feed some of the most toxic snakes in the world just makes my skin crawl. He doesn't always use a tube for forcefeeds and that alone freaks me out :O

His collection of snakes blows my mind. Snakes like that I have only been able to see on national geographic up until now. Check out the Chinese Mountain Viper (Lance Heads) videos. Thos are beautiful snakes.
