I say that as I squint at the tv almost unable to read it because I hate putting my own in! LOL Can definitely see better with them.

Re: No more glasses for me!!
I'm afraid I'm an ex contact wearer. I wore them as a teenager but they just hurt my eyes too much these days after a few hours - I've tried several kinds and I know a few people who also can't tolerate contacts any more. Also TBH I'm a bit too lazy these days and long shifts and contacts don't work too well at the best of times.
They are great though - your vision is certainly much better than glasses.
One of these days I'll get together the balls (and the cash!) for the laser!

Re: No more glasses for me!!
I wore glasses for about 12 years. Then contacts for a few more. I've got a good job with kick ass benefits.
I got both my eyes lasered for a grand total of 50 dollars. BEST thing I've ever done for myself. That was about a year ago.
Congrats on the contacts. But if you can afford the laser or if your job benefits help out with it. DO IT!!

Re: No more glasses for me!!
I've had contacts since the get-go. In middle school, I used to be grossed out by my friend, Heather, putting her contacts in. I was like: "Ewww! How can you touch your eyeball?!"...but now I touch my eyeball every day.
I MUCH prefer them to my glasses--and only wear the glasses on days when my eyes are irritated or I'm lazy.
I love Acuvue Advance...the Oasis are REALLY nice, but they're too pricey for me :)

Re: No more glasses for me!!
I wear those night and day contacts that were approved by the FDA for up to 30 days continuous wear. They are a little dry in the morning but breathe much better. I must say it is very convenient to not have to take them out or put them in. I want to get that laser surgury when I get older though. I have heard that it is very successful these days.

If they're super uncomfortable, they might not be the best brand for your eyes. Personally, I -cannot- do any other brand beside the Acuvues. My doc's office had another brand they gave me at first that irritated the crap out of my eyes--I could FEEL them and they made my eyes water all day long. Apparantly, the sizes were slightly different?
Anyway--if they continue to bug you, first make sure that you didn't put it in inside out (they hurt and try to pop out of your eyes when you do that!) and if that's not the problem, I'd talk to your doc and see about trying out another brand.

Re: No more glasses for me!!
my dad just switched eye insurance policies, and they will pay for laser eye surgery. a couple months ago i went for a consultation and found out it would cost me over 2K. but now i can afford it. yay!!

Re: No more glasses for me!!
my eyesight is really terrible, so my optometrist prescribed rigid gas permeable contact lenses when i was eleven-[ i've had glasses since i was four] they hurt a LOT, and felt wayy unnatural and uncomfortable. i'm back in glasses and take much better care of my eyes now, but i think i'll need laser surgery eventually.

Re: No more glasses for me!!
Double check your contact lens solution btw. There was a recent recall on a particular brand (I dunno what brand though), and it was making it much harder for a lot of people to wear their contacts.
I'm an ex contact lens wearer myself. My eyes are just to dry these days for me to be able to wear contacts for very long.

Re: No more glasses for me!!
I wear contacts and Acuvues were way to dry for me. I told my eye doctor and he switched me over to a brand called Pro Clear. They are for people with dry eyes. I love my contacts.

I'm sure that your ophthalmologist knows about the recalls on any contact lens products and wouldn't give you something that was recalled.
In May, Complete MoisturePlus, (by Advanced Medical Optics) was recalled and it was over a year ago that Bauch and Lomb recalled ReNu with MoistureLoc. I haven't heard of another brand causing issues recently. But anything that came out in May as a recall should be off shelves by now anyway, I should think :)

Re: No more glasses for me!!
The only lenses that don't really bother me are my Bio Medics... Acuvues were definately not for me.

The same thing happened to me when I was younger, and I ended up not wearing them consistently for longer than a month--I had to quit because I always came home from school with these scary red eyes...XDDD Laser is definitely in my future.
...Just, y'know, distant future.
Congratulations on the contacts and I hope they work out great for you!!!
