    Snake Rooms
One of my dreams is to have a snake room one day. So, I was wanting to see some pictures of all of the snake rooms all of you have.

Here is mine. Right off the kitchen. We just added hard wood floors which is great for cleaning up.

Very nice! You are converting all that space into a snake room. Not so sure the fiance would let me do that, but that looks great.

LOL start small. I got a spare bed room then when it got three racks of snakes and two birthing tanks for rats my wife said it was time to do something better for my herp friends. :D
Yea that whole things is going to be my herp room. I want to get a couple of of Ball python breeding seasons under my belt and then maybe branch out to Leos or corns of something. :D

I am really excited about it cause the lighting is way better and its an open space with climate control. Really really excited.

My fiance has already said I could have a snake room, just no demolition and construction allowed. :P :D

When we can afford it, we will eventually get our own apartment (no roommates) and have two bedrooms, one for us, and one for the reptiles. :carrot:

We are currently trying to get an apartment with roommates so that we can have all of our animals under one roof. At the moment, the cats, gliders, lizard, and cornsnake all live with me. My fiance has the two ball pythons and the king snake. It will be nice to have them all in one place. Not to mention, when we get an apartment, that means we can get more snakes. ;) :D

Can't wait to see how things are set up now, Tim!

It's funny but after you get a certain number of snakes (and the rat breeding of course too) you start house hunting in a WHOLE different way.

(whispered under the breath so the new landlord can't hear you....)

hon, look a huge extra bedroom! perfect for the snakes and rats!

yes and look, a big walkin closet...think an incubator would fit in there?

shoot no extra bathroom...but look...room for the rats!

    :D

Sorry no pics of our current snake room (that huge extra bedroom hehehehehe). The camera went ppfffffftttt zzzzzzzzzz and died on me. :(

Right now I have tubs in my home office, the entire one wall is buit in shelves and i just ran heat to each shelf and share heat between one large and one small tub per unit.

I will take some pics when I clean the place up a bit, :rolleye2:. My wife had surgery this week and the house went to heck in a handbacket. I also have a few conventional vivs and will be building more for my larger display animals.

Here is my still unfinished snake room. I will have to move out the big snakes in the spring to make room for more racks but i needed a stepping stone room from my small one until I can afford a biggie.

    As promised.
The first pic is the baby room, and is taken from the external doorway. The second pic is from the baby room looking into the adult room. The third pic is taken right after walking into the adult room and looking left. I took the last pic looking back towards the doorway from the A/C in the adult room.

 Thats amazing! I can't wait to have my own snake room. I'm up to two ball pythons right now, so no snake room yet, but I'm saving up for a rack that houses four so that'll give me room for two more babies! I'm still trying to decide what my next one will be. Het or actual morph? *ponders*

Dang Tim, you got a lotta snakes! :P

My "snake room" is actually just a corner of my bedroom... my racks can hold a total of 19 - 24 snakes of assorted sizes. The rat rack is in the other corner of the room, and in the living room I keep snakes in quarantine.

    Re: Snake Rooms
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../snakeroom.jpg

This is my FIRST snake room. It's a small bathroom, I converted, and mostly I heated the room with the oil-filled heater. Everyone did QUITE well in there, but... they outgrew it in numbers. Obviously it was overdue for a cleaning at the time I took the picture. I built the rack in the foreground myself, stealing the idea from Neil Golli.
Those are not stockings hanging up, it's sheds, whole complete ones only too. There's a board laid over the tub itself so I could use the space for the racks.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...SnakeRoom4.jpg

THIS is the newer snake room, although there are MANY more racks in there, no rats(the rats have racks in the first snakeroom/bathroom now), so it' much fuller. I'm about to move them all AGAIN to my back bedroom. They shouldn't outgrow it, since I'm rather determined to stay somewhere close to 50 snakes in number. Right now, I have 46. With three baby spiders for sale, and I'll probably weed out some of the normal females as I replace them with hets or morphs(when those get breeding size). I only have TWO normal males in my collection. I use them as handling animals when someone wants to hold one of my snakes, and occasionally take them to functions so people can see a lovely calm non-killer snake. This way I don't have to freak about someone touching an expensive morph, and they serve as PR specialists. Both are very calm and seem to enjoy, or at least, not mind handling. Every time I need one out, one or the other is in shed, so this way I have one at all times. Bill was my first bp ever. Blackback was in a shipment of possible morphs, and I ended up keeping him.
I'll post pictures when I finally get my newest(hopefully the last) snakeroom when I finally get it cleaned out and set up. I'll be putting the foamboard down under the racks this time too, so that the floor heat or cold doesn't affect the racks.
    Hope you enjoy.

I still laugh at cue being able to spot that coozie in the pic. It took me forever to try and find it after he said something about it.

I am in awe of everyone's snake rooms (although I think my husband would have something to say if I turned a bathroom into a snake room....LOL.... although my master bathroom and the big garden tub in it has now become a storage spot for a bunch of extra junk, need to do some getting rid of here soon :) :) ). Maybe someday, and when my collection gets large enough to call for one, I could have my own snake room too. :) :) Awesome rooms everyone!!

Any more snake rooms about? :P

Having my new house built soon, and anything I can actually take pix of to the contractors and let them hash out will make it easier on me in the long run, save me some work, (trying to figure out if I can put a basement in but I live on a dried up lake bed and the water table is too high some places in town for a basement.)

and sorry Ben haven't kept ya up to date on Steve (yeah I named my anaconda Steve...so) will email ya pix and junk when I am not at work.
