Omg Omg Omg Omg I'm So Excited!

i just got the email we've been waiting for... adam is holding my CITES in his hands as i type this!!!!! i'm going to be able to see my snakes.... i'm going to be able to handle my snakes (before they go into their week long relaxing, settling in period). i'm going to be able to photograph them at my leisure. i'm going to be able to get to know each of them... with their own little personalities... i'm going to be able to feel each adorable little scale on their bodies and - if i'm really lucky - i'll feel the flicker of their tongues as well.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG can you believe it? am i awake... cause if i'm not this is the BEST dream ever!!!!

for anyone who doesn't remember... i have some real beauties coming from adam at 8 ball. 2 pastels, 2 100% het pieds, a gorgeous spider and one more little angel for my little angel... yup my youngest is getting her very own snake!!! oh man, when i tell her the CITES came in she's going to pee herself on the spot LOL she's been asking me about the snakes almost daily for weeks now...

has anyone imported a snake to canada before? what are some of the costs at this end that i'll be facing... i don't wanna get them here and not be able to afford to pick them up, that would suck so bad.

oh man, i'm so excited. adam hasn't put the permit down... he's so excited as well. i'm typing this, emailing with him, got my hubby on the phone... and i'm dancing in my chair all at the same time!!!!

hey adam, is it okay for me to no longer be patient? cause now i'm so excited... i want them NOW. :giggle: RFN as a matter of fact LOL

well the funny thing is... my hubby was loosing his patience... he was beginning to feel like it was never going to happen... that the CITES would never come - and i wrote to adam asking him for some words of encouragement and he wrote back saying "IT'S HEEEEEEEEEEEEEREEEEEEE!!!!"

how's THAT for words of encouragement!!!

i just told my daughter and she started jumping up and down like a jack rabbit LOL she's sooooo excited about her first ever snake coming... :D she doesn't know adam has a little surprise for her... certificate with her name on the ownership... a t-shirt of her own... she's going to just be over the moon when she sees it all.

everyone, dealing with adam is a dream, in case you haven't had the pleasure let me tell you... everyone should experience his care, dedication and customer service at least once - i said at 'least', not at most LOL

Canadian Import Tariff Especially for Snake!

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. IE paperwork for shipping animals to foreign countries.

yup that's right and it can take as little as 6 weeks but in my case... it took almost a year. we started looking at adam's snakes in oct/nov... picked the ones we wanted, paid for them and got the CITES started in dec.

many months later (not adam's fault in anyway) the gov't finally decided to give us our permits! and... VOILA we finally get our snakes.

Congrats Aleesh. I'm glad to hear that your snakes should be inbound very soon. I know you have been waiting a long time for them. I think that once they get there, it will be well worth the wait. CITES in tthe US sucks. If only he was shipping from Canada to the US, it would have been great. I can't wait to see your very own pics of your beautiful snakes.

Unfortunately I have not done that yet. I just started to look at CITES paperwork today, as I have had alot of Europeans sending me e-mails in the last few months. I am still very new to the international game.

I guess you're not in the States.

CITES is such a pain in the neck. My old broker used to get re-export CITES in two weeks. Now my new exporter just got it AFTER ALMOST 4 MONTHS OF WAITING!!! :(

May I ask where're you located at? :)

Regarding CITES in the US. I've been imported for a year and lately everything have been extreme slow. Many of breeders I've talked to said it's because of understaff in the VA CITES head office. Maybe some of you in VA should apply for a job there just to help us out lol

Awesome Aleesha, I'm so excited for you. When I visited Adam's shop earlier this month, I saw all the tubs with your name on them, and thought that you must be going nutso by now :rolleye2: :D . I can't wait to see pics of them in Canada!!

actually i did have to change my shorts a few times LOL

my snakes will be coming via the airlines. fortunately they can be flown into abbotsford which is less than hour away and a very small airport so easy to navigate. otherwise they would have to go via vancouver airport which is a nightmare (not to mention super expensive for parking) and over 2 hours away and so much traffic... so i'm very very pleased they are able to come closer to home.

yup robin you did help me pick my spider - that was only a few months ago though... in march!

I remember how excited you were when you first posted that you were getting snakes from Adam! I had just assumed that you had received them long ago! Bet you have nooo problem with Heinz ketchup these days! (Anticipation) Anyway, congratulations on finally getting your (no longer baby) snakes!!!!!

no i haven't... but adam is contacting some people to find out how much it has cost in the past. just so i don't go there... and i'm short of money... THAT would suck big time!
