Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
Ok, someone local is trying to sell this girl, and says she's a super pastel. I haven't seen her in person, and only have this one pic to go off of. I think she's a pastel, but not a super. What do you guys think?
EDIT: Ok, I was just looking for comparison photos, and found this EXACT photo on the NERD site...

She's asking $300. She initially posted her on CL for $100, but I guess someone clued her in to the fact that she had a "special" BP. I emailed her back, offered her $150 cash... We'll see what she says.

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
She is pretty, and i like the nice fading on her neck, but did you say that the pic she has up in her ad is actually from Nerd's website, or did i read that wrong???

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
I was going to say the same thing - did she steal the photo from NERD's site? And if it's on NERD's site, then she probably doesn't have that snake.

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
Just to clarify the picture IS a Super Pastel...it is shown on NERDs site as such.

Now as to what this lady really has (if anything) is the question.:)

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
It is a Super Lemon and it looks like you found a scammer.
Try contacting her and see if she can provide you with larger pictures of the animal she claims belong to her.

HAHAHA caught in the act... Thats awesome...

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
I've sent 3 emails so far... 1 to the original ad for the $100 price, one once she raised the price to $300 doubting it was a super at all (which that pic is now that I've found it on NERD's site also..) and offering her $150, and one pointing out that the pic was lifted from someone else's site, and requesting pics of the actual animal. I haven't heard back from any of them...

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
A while back someone had posted two bp's needing rehoming on CL. Showed a pic of a pie bald and I think an albino. Turned out the breeder lived in montana had the snake pics on his website. The sellor wanted like $500 and lived in the UK. Or so they say.
So its got to be a scam. I see them all the time on CL. I just ignore them now, and post a warning to everyone. It either gets deleted by the author or flagged off.

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
Ok, I just re-read the posting. She is obviously trying to scam someone.

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
This is the email that I got from her at 1:39 pm. Also, the email address says ~ High Country Reptiles ~ Port Orchard, WA.
"Hi. She is a super pastel, and her mom was a pastel het albino. I wouldn't state that she was a female unless she was probed as such. The picture does look just like her, and mimics her colors well."

Heh--for someone who's got a snake her boyfriend left her with, she's got an awfully good knack for lingo "pastel het albino" and "probed as such"... ;)
Someone with no knowledge of reptiles outside of having a significant other with one, wouldn't likely know about the genetics or about what probing or popping is. Not impossible, just unlikely.

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
I just offered her $1000 for it. ;)
Messing with scammers is fun!

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
This just makes me mad...
I hit CL several times a day looking for adult females for my breeding projects and this is the crap I get... Her original ad was more believable though.

Re: Super pastel? I'm thinking not...
Wow, so she still has the snake after they broke up, and she's getting deployed very soon. AND just happens to have a business named High country reptiles? Or is that to make her sound legit so she can sell. OR if she does have a business, why is she being deployed? Who's gonna take care of all her reptiles???
Maybe that was the last one.... Im sure.. >.< stupid ppl

why are you looking on craigslist for breeding projects? thats more like a place to pick up some rescues. just cause the snake is an adult doesn't mean it is gonna be good to breed. you have no idea of the condition, the genetics, ect.
if you really need to pick up something for your breeding projects i would check out kingsnake.com. you're still gonna have scammers here and there, but it's overall a better place to look for "breeding projects".

I understand what you're saying, and maybe I came off wrong in that post... I already have the genetics I want for this and next year, so that's not a concern for me. I scan CL looking for normal females of appropriate age to consider using as part of my plans. Occasionally I'll come across a visual morph I'm interested in, such as this one... For normals and the occasional morph CL is a perfectly good place to look, as long as you're willing to quarantine for an appropriate period of time and take care of any health issues that may come along with them. Additionally, all 3 of the snakes I've purchased from CL are very healthy, including my male pastel and adult normal female.
