I use one pop riveted in a 6qt tub then lined with one of the same size. :D
Offers easy cleaning and no risk of knocking it over.
Re: hatchling water bowls...
wow; an 8-ouncer would take up half of the tub! That is my only worry.. but I love that riveting idea; I might use that in the future..

Re: hatchling water bowls...
I use the little ceramic Ramekins. They are very sturdy and very small, small enough for hatchlings!
Some are 2 oz, some are larger...
I buy them on Ebay.
Great little bowls! :D
Re: hatchling water bowls...
hm :) Well 4 out of 8 have eaten. The tubs are pretty small as far as shoeboxes go, with narrower bottoms I think than most.
Re: hatchling water bowls...
I used either a 3-inch ceramic dish or this year I used the smallest size of the potted plant water catchers that I use as hides. I also had some very short tubs that I considered using shallow ashtrays in.
Re: hatchling water bowls...
I go to Target and get the little white ceramic bowls for $2. They are heavy enough that a hatchling can't tip them over. For hides I go to the 99 cents store and get little plastic bowls 3 for 99 cents. I get all my different size hides from there now. So cheap I keep MANY extras!
Re: hatchling water bowls...
White ceramic ramekins rock! Most good department stores carry a selection or better yet check out restaurant supply stores for lower prices.

Re: hatchling water bowls...
Wal-Mart carries a small animal plastic bowl for about $1.50 they are perfect size and thick so they are hard to tip over.

these are the white ceramic bowls with the ribs on the outside you can get them a mejier, bed bath and beyond, and many other places...
for little hides i go to thecontainerstore.com they have tons of little containers that make darn great hides with a little help of a hot knife they even have polycarbonate ones that can be cut with a dremel tool.
Re: hatchling water bowls...
At Target this week I found 8oz wide-mouthed canning jars...very wide and flat and shallow. They don't tip, and the neck of the jar means that there is no sloshing when I slide the tub in. $3.60 for a 4-pack, so cheaper than any of the ramekinds I've found. I am trying them in the baby boa rack, and they work really well.
The bonus is that they say "Ball" on the side. :-P
Re: hatchling water bowls...
I currently use the ramekins for all my bps. Different sizes for different snakes/tubs. I do have problems with some of the larger snakes dumping there bowls though.
For my baby spotteds, I'm using glass votive candle holders that I picked up in a local craft store. They work beautifully! Might be a little small for even the smallest bp, though.

Re: hatchling water bowls...
I like the deli cups better than the shotglasses now; thanks for recommending them :) I had a few SGs spill, which was not good at all.. no one has dumped a deli cup thus far. And they like to huddle in between the cup and the tub side for a nifty hidespot.. brilliance!
