Re: smaller boas
Nicaraguan BCI dont grow over 6'. Males usually 4'-5' and females 5'-6'. They are usually pretty nippy as babys though. As stated a male BCI normally won't grow larger than 7'. Have you looked into dumeril boas. They are a great first boa with a great temperment and only grow to 5'-6'.

Re: smaller boas
Another good suggestion is hogg island boa. They'll probably fit in your category if not smaller.

Re: smaller boas
I don't recommend hogs for a single reason, some are piss and vinegar! This girl is handled 2-3 times a week in hopes that she won't be as bad as an adult, its very rare that I can open the rack and not hear her hissing, I'd trust even my nic over her, just my experience. Most hogs just seem to be rather unpredictable, having bad days more often than not http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...s/DSC00345.jpg

Re: smaller boas
I'm going to have to agree with Jake on this one. Hogs are definitely not a beginner boa. They are, mostly, a very aggresive boa. Especially as babies.
