Which Logo do you prefer?

So my wife thinks my logo is too gansta and not very legible(readable).
I myself like the logo and am a big fan of Old English type writing. Yes I am ALOT more street than she is, so she said do a poll. The old english is the white lettering on a black background and the more modern logo is black lettering on a white background. Currently all my shirts are the Old English. Before we run more I wanted some feedback. So far everyone has had nothing but nice things to say about the shirts/logo.

What do you think?

The second one is easier to read. "Gangsta" doesn't come to my mind when I see either of them. I like 'em both.

I agree about the gansta reference.
I thought the Old English was more like a pirate flag type lettering.

Here's some things you need to consider. First, and MOST important...simplicity. When a person looks at a logo, and they immediately know what that company is, and they can remember that image, then it's a good logo. You, as a company, have to do the thinking for your customer, and all your customer wants to do is be presented with something that is visually appealing.

I think your first logo is difficult to read. You're making people think too much because they have to read something that's not very clear...and as silly as it may seem, there is some truth behind the madness of making people think...because we're lazy, we don't want to! and...We're more visual people. Words are just words...Pictures, however, are a thousand words. I hope this helps you guys Raul.

I like the first one. I recognize it immediately, and I always think "ah, Raul!" when I see it. I'm pretty G myself, though....

I actually think the Old English looks classy, but I also agree with Nate.

I think they both look kick ass...but I will say that the second, or newer typeface is easier to read. I just happen to be a huge fan of black T's.

I'm with Nate. I enjoy reading Old English but especially for a T-shirt, the newer logo is MUCH easier on the eyes!!!!

However, if you'd consider either the corsiva, or the harlow, I'd pay you for shirts in those fonts. They're even easier to read, and I like that in my Ts and sweatshirts that have logos or funny sayings on them.


I LIVE in t-shirts, so I'm always on the lookout for cool pics, funny (or risque) sayings. :D :D :D

it all comes down to what YOU want YOUR shirts to say. i will probably pick up either one....

well i have a couple of your shirts and i have to say... we love the way they look. i like the font you originally chose... and as someone in business... i find that sticking with what IS is always a good idea. people already associate you with that font... with the way it looks. i just don't think changing it is a good business idea at all. :P

Raul, this is a very tough choice. Keeping with a "look" that you have used for your business is important to me. However, I agree with Nate that the second one is easier to read.


I ended up voting for the second one. Looks like the poll is very close . . . .

I actually like the 2nd font better.... BUT I'd like to see it the same size and "Fatness" as the Old E..... *Witch doesn't look bad at all* I just prefer the 2nd.... Wurd. :D

The second one is a lot easier on the eyes...reads much faster and quicker.

And this may just be a personal quirk of mine...but I don't much care for the gangsta thing....I associate it with the same people who abuse pitbulls, and it rubs me the wrong way. Somebody who has animals for the image, not for their intrinsic beauty.

Now...I know that doesn't apply to you because I've read your posts here. But I wonder what other people who don't know you will see.

I agree that the newer one is easier to read, at least for me - but I still love my shirt! :D

I am choosing the first one not because it is much easier to read but because in my mind, it ties in with the company name. "West Coast *insert noun here*" just doesn't make as much sense with a random font as opposed to the old english letters. :)

They're both great, but I voted the second one based on pure readability. It looks nice and it's quicker and easier to read. When people glance at a shirt or bumper sticker or what not, they're usually not going to take the time to take it in. I had a few classes in art school where they beat into us how important readability is in advertising. If you're thinking in terms of advertising, I'd definitely go with the second. It's more important folks see the words then the font, so they'll remember your name.

In other words, I'm with Nate. :D

Personally, as one who lives with an artist/designer, I like them both but agree that the second one is easier to read and catches the eye quicker. Who knows, maybe you could have a lighter colored panel to keep the logo on black T's... and some other morphs for the snake would really be cool. :)

I think someone else pointed this out, but i just have to say, the Olde English reminds me of the Orange County, East/West Coast choppers. Esp when they're in the cross emblem. Now that his name is West Coast Jungle, i easily remember his name simply because i relate that font to "X Coast".
So either could go.

Also, i feel the second choice is too.. feminine for a name that brings to mind choppers & greaseaholics :P

Well folks I would like to thank everyone for their input! After reading everyones thoughts we have decided to use both logos! The shirts will stay the same because It's just cool looking, but we will probably be using the other logo for the website (when it gets updated) and for advertising because as many have pointed out it is easier to read at a glance. The old english is totally west coast and has alot more personality so all of our cool shirts will have the cool logo! I also raise orchids so the more readable conservative logo would probably be best for that purpose as well. Once again everyone's input has been extremely helpful and greatly appreciated. now lets get back to talking :snake: :snake: :snake: . Yea mon!

The color of lettering changes with color of background. We have many different colored shirts so it varies :cool:
