Naming my new black blood! (DUW)

Well, as some of y'all have read, I got my new male dark-headed black blood today from Jeff Hartwig. He's a funny little bugger that has already provided me much entertainment. Now I need a little bit of help in naming him. My first thought was to name him Sable, and I really like the name, it's just that from a quick search it appears as though it's a common name for some "racy" models, if ya catch my drift. My other thoughts are to the names Nero, and Carbon. I am not great at naming, and am open to suggestions.

I'd just shoot him another e-mail, at the very least it's best to KNOW he's out, then to assume and lose your chance at one. He has been a real trooper in dealin with me, so I'm sure he'll get you squared away. If not this year, he'll give you first choice of his hatchlings next year. (I had to wait for severl people to pick out the ones they wanted b/c they were on the list alot longer than myself).

Yea, he said we were on the waiting list, and we just sent him another email about 4 days ago. Still got my fingers crossed, it's a present for the boyfriend.

If we was to stay the same, I would agree, that's a great name. But as time passes he'll get almost solid black!

I like Obsidian too, but I'm thinkin more along the lines of a simpler 2 syllable name. Other names I came up with were Onyx, Ink, Jet Black (call him jet) and shadow.... lol

How about Midnight,twilight or dusk because he does have a grayish black on his sides , but those are just some ideas.

By the way your snake is Very Perty

Beautiful snake! I like carbon and Obsidian. How about coal, raven, or wicked (as in the black knight)?

Another thought...

Get to know him, personality-wise, and name him based on that instead of appearance. Sumatran short-tailed pythons have GOBS of personality once they get settled in & grow up a bit...you may find him naming himself eventually! :)

Looked at the pictures, and the first thing that came to mind was Jaguar... i know its a cat, but i think it had something to do with the pattern, maybe, maybe not, i'm allowed to have my own opinion...lol!!!

Well... I think you're right, he needs a name based on his personnality. When I checked on him today I found that he had poo'd so he needed another cleaning along with his tub. Well, lets just say I did manage to dodge the strikes today, but he is quite the nippy little bugger. Luckily since he's so short he didn't quite have the necessary range to land any. However, after the initial strike fest as I was removing "his" hides and waterbowl, he became quite docile and took to handling during the time it took to clean his cage.

Another name I like is Keegan, meaning "little fiery one". I'm going to wait a bit longer to make it official, but I'm pretty sure it's either going to be Keegan or Nero.

Well, I have named him Nero. I really liked the name from the start, it seems to fit his personality quite well, but what finalized it was when I was talking to him (yes, i talk to my snakes), I accidentally him addressed him as Nero and so it shall stay. LOL.

Seeing that you got some pretty sweet dinosaur sheets and he's a feisty guy I would name him Saurus or Rex.. that would be cool. Or think of your first actual memory of him or what he did that you will remember him by, lol seeing my favorite movie is 300, I named my little guy Spartan :)
