Why I love fed-ex!
Well, I just took into possesion my very first blood python, a dark-headed male sumatran short tail from Jeff Hartwig. He is quite the excited little bugger, and has made every attempt to escape my hands when I took him from his container unlike my ball that just chills. I am looking forward to spending time with him, and getting him acclimated to being held. Guess that's gonna make the "adjusting" week a very long and difficult one for me.:(
I'mma get a few pics in just a bit when he settles down some. For such a small little bugger he just pee'd EVERYWHERE on my kitchen counter so I got some cleaning to do...
For the time being, here's a link to Jeff's site, and a pic of my little guy! Jeff has been a dream to work with, and down the road when I get another I will return to him! http://www.jeffhartwig.com/07BBBHM8.JPG

ehh, it's all good. I was expecting him to be nastier from what I've read about young bloods. However he only bit when I moved to wash the pee off him. He didn't strike at all, he just opened his mouth and then bit me... as though the back of my hand was a f/t mouse... It was interesting to say the least.

YUP! :P
I completely understand having to make the decision. Sure the blacks are AWESOME! But the chromes are sweet too! They appear to have a beautiful maroonish color to them.

I think your thinking of light heads, not chromes!

I have him in a Sterilite 1954 12qt tub, with the necessary hides and water dish hooked up to a UTH and herpstat. ATM he seems more like a GTP than a blood, as he's just laying on a small peice of that grapewood stuff. I don't think that'll fly once he gets a bit bigger/thicker.
EDIT: And he's in a different room than both my ball and boa for quarantine.

Re: Why I love fed-ex!
Fed Ex is great. And so are python curtus. Congrats on him. He'll be an amazing eater once you get him started. And he will tame with weekly handling ;) . The key is to approach the head slowly.

Re: Why I love fed-ex!
Alright y'all here are a few pics I managed to snap. He is already quite alot calmer. Once I set him down on my bed he just sat there and stared at me, and was receptive to being picked up and put back in his tub. Sorry the pics arn't "photoshoot" material, just wanted to snap a few for y'all with as little disturbance to him as possible.
For the record: Those ARE my sheets. I just happen to share a bed with my lil bro when I'm home from college.

Re: Why I love fed-ex!
I'm currently thinking of names for him, and so far the best I've got is Sable.
Anyone else got any good ideas for naming a black snake?
