    Our first BEE!
This has been one of those things that I have been waiting four years for. And, it finally happened. We bred our Spider male to our very first Pastel Female (a smaller 2004 animal) and got 5 eggs. We ended up with 1.0 Normals, 1.0 Spiders and 1.2 BumbleeBees. The first two Bees to come out were female, so I was getting nervous that we wouldn't get our male. Then, Monica miss sexed the third animal while I was at work. So, I drove home all bummed out that we didn't get a male. When I got home, I checked out the last female to verify the sex. Low and behold a little boy. Then I had to bring it to Sean to have him double check it for me to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I also posted a picture of 2 of the Bees piping. In the group photo, the males are in the back row, and the females are in the front.

Thanks Sean. We will probably be keeping the girl on the right. It is kind of hard to see in the photo, but she has a really cool looking neck stripe. I'll try to get a better pic of her neck stripe after she sheds. As for the one on the left, not sure if I'll trade or sell, but she will probably be available.

Thanks Tartan. I have always wanted to make all of my designers from scratch, that way you don't have to worry about picking one that you like. If you breed for it, you just be happy with what you are given. I think we were given some good ones.

Thanks everybody. It has been a great year, that is starting to come to a close. I can't complain one bit about how the "Gods" treated us this year. I hope evryone can have as much fun as we did this year in the upcoming breeding seasons.

And Alice, I'm sending vibes your way for a clutch of beautiful Bees in 32 days.

Now I have to start sacrifices for next season, so the "Gods" don't slam me next year for all the stuff they sent me this year. LOL.

    Malika,
I wanted a male, so that I could plug him in with a few different projects. With only a female, I can only get one clutch of eggs. With a male, I can put him with another Pastel, a Mojave, a Cinnamon, A Pinstripe and the list goes on. Hope that helps explain it.

    Davy,
Have you tried candling them yet? I successfully candled 2 of those Bees, and atleast knew that there were 4 Spider patterned animals in the clutch (I candled on day 42). I think you may be able to get an idea right now about what you are going to get.

I tried but I can't really tell, but they all have a baby inside of them. This year is my first time breeding since I got into the Ball pythons in 2004, so I'm kinda a newbie in breeding ball pythons but I bred a lot of other reptiles.

I'll try to candle them again tonight. What should I look for, the bee pattern?

    Thanks Tim and Monica

    Davy,
You should easily be able to pick the Spider patterns out from the Normal patterns. As far as Bees go, it takes a little closer look, but to me, the black striping appears to be thinner than the striping on a Spider. Let me know how it goes of you try candling tonight. Or if you need to, give me a call.
