You know you're opening yourself up here to hammering from non smokers. ;)
I think cigars are icky smelling. I don't like being around them.
Cigerettes.... what ever doesn't cost $5 a pack works for me.
    I roll my own though.

Thats fine. All they have to do is scroll over the title and see what it is.

I would like to roll my own, but I cant find any good place to get the tobacco in bulk. Ill probably get it offline.

I buy about a carton every 2.5-3 weeks.

    Really?
Wow, around here they sell it everywhere. We can get 16 oz. bags for about $6, plus tubes, rolling paper, whatever. But tabacco prices are so outragious in Washington that the companies make more money on RYO than they do by the pack (carton, whatever :D).
My husband and I go through about the equivenent of a carton a week.

The only place I know of localy is Walgreens up the road. And thats like a 6 or 8 oz. bag of pipe tobacco, thats not good for cigs, its very rough and has big shreds. Plus no menthol either.

One thing about rolling your own that I like is that it takes time, so you smoke less, its not like grabbing a smoke out of the pack. Which is too easy, so you end up smoking alot more.

I personally hate cigars... Although because of my uncle I love the smell of pipe tobacco.... I find it comforting. No idea what brand he smokes though....

As for cigarettes, the boyfriend smokes rothman's red, so if I have them it's that... None in the house though, the smell is icky! Now if only we could convince the roommate of that one.. Oh well, as of 2 weeks from now no more roommate!

I bought smokers candles when I went down to deerfield a couple months ago for jet ski racing.

They cut the smell out. They were $4 a piece, I bought 10 and put them all through out the house, 2 in my room.

I still don't like it in the house even with candles :)

We have laws here that you can't smoke in any public building or enclosure with a roof... And it just makes you used to smoking only being outdoors...

Not really. I can roll a cigerette, be it by hand or in the machine so dang quick, I can chain smoke if I wanted to! :O
It does work for a while when ya first start rolling your own, but once you get use to it, it's amost the equivenent of pulling one out of the pack. Now if you're like some and roll up a pack at a time every night before you go to bed...shame, shame! :P
Only rolling one at a time does help, but.... it's still just as easy to smoke just as much.
Granted, it only takes 2 seconds to open a pack and pull one out, whereas loading the machine and making one takes about 15 seconds if that.

You have a machine? Where can i get one of those? Any web site?

Most people I know who RYO walk around with a big bag and a pack of papers.
I think a machine would be good. I dont like hand rolled mostly because you dont use a filter, cant smoke with out a filter.

If you have tobacco shops around, then you should be able to find a tube machine. Just DON'T get a cheap one, they suck and tear up the tubes. Don't get 'Top', their machines are crap. I generally will only use Zig-Zag rollers but now I've got a Rizla roller and it works real well and can, thusfar, handle the abuse. :D
I don't know about on line, although I'm sure if you went to, like, Zig-Zag's site, you could find them.

    Hi,

Used to be marlboro, quit 2 years ago as they cost $10 a 20 pack over here. Gotta love tax right?

They all cost about the same by the way so couldn't even just change brand.

not that I'm bitter or anything.

    Hey,

Worst thing being I just watched a re-run of an 80's political satire show ( "yes minister" for those who like satire but it's fairly uk specific I think) that detailed a proposed plan to lead to cigarettes being made illegal and , damned to a nutcrunch, it was basically the government policy of the last 5 years.

We pay a LOT extra in tax and BS charges on booze, petrol and tobacco over here. I'm not going to get involved in the politics of it but the reasons aren't all that good either.

There's a reason we look at you funny when you complain about the amount you pay for gas - it's less than a third what we pay. FYI thats why we have those poxy little cars.:P

I used to smoke Marlb menthols. I quit, but in certain social situations I might have 1-2. It is of no consequence as I was never addicted to them nor ever will be. I smoked daily for a few years and just stopped one day and it did not bother me. I do not miss it at all.
I used to alternate with clove cigarettes too.. wow! I tried one a few weeks ago and you'd have thought I was on something, hehe.
And gee; I can remember being a kid, adults smoking a foot away from ya. In the car too! I really hope that people do not smoke by their kids now, knowing what it does to them.

Years ago I would pick up a pack of Swisher Sweets (sp) every now and then but never regularly....I think it closer to my high school days and wanting to feel like a rebel LOL.

I don't smoke, I have better things to spend my money on that make me "feel" much happier than any cancer causing smoke will. My grandfather is in and out of the hospital more and more and will die because of what his smoking habit has done to him and not putting enough effort into quiting.

I'm not putting anyone down because they smoke and will not lecture on the right and wrong of it...everyone makes their own decisions and must live with those decisions.

Ok wow. I like both pipes and cigars. I love my pipes in the winter time and cigars are more of an after dinner or out and about kinda smoke. ;D

Cigarettes to me smell foul and stale. But a nice3 Honduran or Dominican cigar with an after dinner drink is heaven.

I quit smoking over 2 years ago. Now when I'm around others that smoke I think 'what was I thinking?".

    I can't stand the smell/taste anymore. Plus..what a waste of money..
