I think that the police service units in that area need to higher their IQ testing requirement for employment.

The police kill another kid due to serious undertraining and low employment requirements...

Hopefully he gets some jail time, at least 20+ years; although, that will most likely not happen. However, if you kill a cop you get special circumstances and life is mandatory.

Hideous misuse of a firearm. No one should ever shoot at things in trees like that.. unless maybe hunting for birds and using birdshot. With the wa that property lines border each other and houses are everywhere these days.. it is unconscionable to be shooting at things in trees like that. :(

For someone against gun control, I sure as all heck don't want him ever getting near a weapon again... Cops shooting kids doesn't help my cause...

I hope the best for the family of the little boy. It is horrible enough to lose someone you love, even more so if they died for no reason other than someone's pure stupidity.

What makes me mad is that this kid had to die because some stupid officer was shooting at a snake. Why was he shooting at the snake in the first place?

I am a licensed gun owner, I own everything from a 30-06, Ak-47 to Sig Sauer and Glock pistols. I am a citizen/hobbyist gun owner and this guy was a law enforcement officer who are supposed to be highly trained in firearms and the safety that goes with it.

What in gods name could that snake possibly be doing to warrant that officer to discharge his weapon at it? I don't care is that was a black mamba in that tree it still wouldnt warrant discharging your weapon. If you absolutely HAD to shoot at the snake you could at the very least use a more suitable gun like a shotgun with birdshot in it that wont travel a half mile beyond your target should you miss :rolleyes:

The stupidity of that officer is truely scary to say the least. That's your tax dollars hard at work there. Must have been one hell of a nasty snake huh :confused:

funny how they're not saying anything about the snake isn't it? no mention of species or even whether it's venomous or harmless. could've been a kite tail stuck in the tree for all we know!

i'm aghast. simply aghast. how in the world can this have happened. why would someone who is trained in the safety and usage of guns do such a thing?

shooting into the air? where did he think the bullet would go? vaporize after it passed the snake?

this definitely gets the "stupid people annoy me" metal of honour for this year!

I've tried to write something several times but every time I try to criticise the cop I'm struck speechless at just how incredibly stupid he was. Noble must be a seriously small town for a policeman to even consider something like that. To top it off, it sounds like he had a partner around!

Why even shoot a snake in the first place? Because its in a tree? So senseless. God bless this poor family. Utterly appalled!
