    bad tattoos..
My fiancee is a tattoo artist, and we have both noticed the proliferation of bad tattoos in our area. People put out these tats with broken lines, aweful shading, and the customers do not seem to know if they are bad or not.
In the interest of improving tattooed life for everyone: if you are interested in using a cerain artist but not sure, feel free to PM me or post here with a link to their work. I can have Mark critique it for symmetry, line smoothness, etc. I myself never knew a good tattoo from a marginally bad one until I started researching and reading up on how to tattoo, etc. Just shooting this out there!

I've gotten totally addicted to Miami Ink and can't wait for LA Ink to come on TV. I don't even have a tattoo but I'm blown away by the incredible skill of some of these artists!

My hubby Mike is determined to get at least one more tatt and wants Chris Garver to do it (I think I spelled his name right?)

Yeah it's always a shame to see bad tats...I've seen some horrors around here myself. I love watching Miami ink, a friend of mine actually got one there, looks amazing.

I'm looking to get a new tat of guess what? some of my BP's I'm looking for someone good in L.A. My brother says I should combine some of my orchids and BP's. I was gonna do band(s) of cinny, pastel or spider around my arm but he says"Boring" go for something more artisitic with LOTs of color. Since I also raise orchids he thoght the combo and original artwork would be killer. Probably will go on my shoulder. Any thoughts?

i made the mistake of gettin tats at a tattoo party.... never again. i have one that is thankfully out of sight. it was supposed to be a gemini symbol with a ribbon across that says gemini but u can't really read it. and i have a breast cancer ribbon on my arm that i had to have redone 3 times and is still not very good... a lot better than it was tho.... i do have a place i can go (where i got my first) and get them fixed but i'm waiting till i have SPARE cash!

i have three, all of which really arent of good quality. i didnt know it at the time but now im disapointed in them.. the colors arent vibarant, the lines are thick and the one on my back is missing color all together.. someday i would like to have them redone and i would DIE to have it done at miami ink, i think kat was a bit pathetic for "copy cating" the miami ink show but im sure it will be a hit and i would watch it too.

Hehe... I have my one and only tattoo... A 'tattoo artist' would call it awful. It's fairly small, simple... Not really shaded and definately not symetrical. I love it however. It has meaning from how it was done (without a gun) to who did it, and what it is...

Some people don't notice or care that their tattoos aren't 'perfect quality' only because they have a more personal meaning to them :) I wouldn't want mine 'corrected' at all because to me it's perfect - in that nothing is perfect and it's got character.

I got 4 "jailhouse" tats, the colors hella faded to a light blueish grey and the lines look all off, but they still have meaning and invoke memories. I have two studio tats that are pretty nice, and definitely plan on getting more. That guy Nunez from Miami ink used to own a shop right next to this record store in Baltimore I used to go by..

TLC is the one that set up the whole 'blow up' between Kat and Ami on Miami Ink. They wanted her to have her own show because she was the most popular and they thought it would make good drama for the show if it appeared she just took off.

She admits that it was all staged just like the rest of 'reality tv'.

Kat is an awesome person (met her at a tattoo convention) and I'd love to have some work done by her if I ever have the extra money.

The first tattoo I got when I turned 18 was a kanji symbol on my ankle. It was done quite poorly, and only now that it's been filled in fully black does it look sort of ok. I have another kanji symbol on my back and it looks fantastic -- the lines are precise and thin, you can tell the artist took his time to make sure it was... Unlike my ankle, which is overly thick and indistinct.

And btw I think Kat is a badass chick and I can't wait to see her on LA ink! I know it's all reality tv set up the way they had her 'open her own shop', but there is something seriously addicting about watching people get tattoos done, and I bet it will be an interesting contrast to Miami Ink.

Miami Ink is petty awesome. I love how the world can get a look into a real working tattoo shop. It is not all fun and games; like any workplace, people have tiffs, get aggrevated and slack off. :)
Mark and i are really striving to open a shop of our own around here eventually. For now, he keeps his property management biz but tatts on the weekends (fri-sat.)
Kat is awesome. her portraits put most others to shame. I figured that the drama was staged; it Is reality TV, not reality. :)

    jen,

do you really think that even the untrained eye can't tell a bad tat from a good one? besides beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

before i even had my first tat, i could tell if someone's tat had bad lines, bad colour/shading... and if their tat looked like an ink blot test LOL

    *very nice offer jen*

    love ya girl,
