Re: what idiot did this
??? Have no idea what you're referring to.....but if it's just a matter of live feeding....many of us here practice that particular method. If done correctly, it's just as safe as pre-killed methods.

Re: what idiot did this
A quick piece of googling found me this. Should be the second pic on the page you see! http://www.reptileforums.com/forums/...ad.php?t=18494

Re: what idiot did this
If you cant figure out how to post pictures, can you explain what is pissing you off?
EDIT:
I see. Just the result of someone who didnt research the proper care of their snake. Live prey should never be left un-monitored(sp) ESPECIALLY with BPs.

Re: what idiot did this
Thanks Ben. Yes, that's definitely horrific. And can only happen in the most extreme cases of neglectful live feeding.

No problem Judy, after seeing the intro to the thread I had to try and figure out what he saw... Scary what a unattended prey item can do to a snake. Instances such as this is sad and doesn't do much good for the herp community in general as the "live prey" option takes more and more heat as time passes.:(

Re: what idiot did this
That pic makes me want to go give my girl a hug. I feel so bad for the poor thing.

Re: what idiot did this
Wonder if this will start a whole live vs f/t argument...

Re: what idiot did this
Yeah, that picture has nothing at all to do with live feeding. It wasn't a result of feeding live, it was a result of leaving a rodent in the enclosure for days with the snake, after the snake refused.
No food left for rodent, predator becomes prey. Simple as that.

Re: what idiot did this
*heavy sigh* I feel so bad for that snake. It must hurt soooo bad. I would never dream of leaving a live mouse or rat in the feeding cage (seperate from regular cage) for either of my ball pythons.
I have even been known to open the cage and give the mouse a solid thump on the side of the cage for trying to bite my babies. I say mice because mine are still to small (by a bit) for rats.

Re: what idiot did this
How disgusting. :(
But saying that live feeding shouldn't be done, because some ignoramuses have let their snake die and get bitten.. that is like saying that no one should drive cars because certain people kill others in crashes. I feed strictly live, and have never had a bite to any of my snakes. It is morons that leave a live, tooth-and-claw-baring rodent, in with their snakes for many hours or days when the snake is not interested.. that are the ones who should not be allowed to own a flippin' snail.

Re: what idiot did this
Some people are just plain stupid! I have 2 that will eat nothin but live prey and one of them wont eat in feeding tank, only in his enclosure, he's picky lol.
If they dont take their prey in 5 min, they arent hungry lol.
I always watch with live feeders and have actually had to grab the rats head a couple times while the snakes are constricting, have lost a couple scales live feeding, never any blood, except for the rats.
Good post

Re: what idiot did this
Horrific  and very sad :( I pray and hope that person will never be an animal owner again. I used to feed only F/T, but lately have been feeding some of mine live also. Some of my BP go back and forth on their preferences, and refuse F/T. I have never had a problem, as I watch closely, and never leave anything alive in with the snake if it shows no interest in a prey item.
Rodents can give a nasty bite , especially if they are hungry.
