Economics question
Karen's taking an economics class right now toward her accounting degree (she graduates early Nov, woo hoo!) and there was a question her teacher asked them that kinda fascinated me, so I'm asking everybody now.
If you made more money, what would you buy less of?

Cheaper cuts of meat, fans (I want A/C!), bus tokens.

Re: Economics question
Gold plated toilet paper, I'd go platinum all the way..... :)
No really its a tough question as I'd like to say Ramen noodles as well however its one of the few things that I can actually cook..... So I'd have to go with ????? (drawing a blank) I've got to think a little more about this one, interesting question. I'll respond back again later this afternoon, I'll be more conscious of the things that I consume today and post later tonight...

Re: Economics question
No hesitation here... cleaning supplies. Cause I'd just come home every Fri. and my house would be clean.... ***I'd get a pet sitter/home cleaner on the pay-roll*** :P
-
Re: Economics question
That wouldn't work for me Laura. I'd either have to tidy the house before the housekeeper came (I wouldn't want her to think we are pigs or something LOL) or I'd have to do it after she left (because no one EVER folds towels the way I like them folded!)
Okay..okay...so I have issues! LOL

Re: Economics question
Hahaha!!! Right? My hub said, "You know... not everyone spring cleans every week".... My response was that not every one has 4 cats... a pack of dogs, etc... that shed enough in one week to build a whole new animal.... :P But AGH! There is just a right way, and a wrong way to cleaning... I find cat hair on top of the fridge.... really, how does that HAPPEN!?!?!?!?
OK.... so how DO you fold your towels?!?!?! :8:

Re: Economics question
Okay I'm not the only one with cleaning issues apparently! LMAOOOOOO (but there is a right way to do things....why don't they get this vital bit of information!)
Well to hang them you have to fold a third in, then another third in and then hang them evenly. That way you see the nice edging on your towels. For storing you have to fold them nicely then stack them with the nice fold showing outwards...by color or by set of course. Who likes a messy linens closet!
Errrr...did I mention that I tend to make Martha look like a lazy tramp? I'm much better now though really....really I am (sneaks off to realign the couch blanket and line up the shoes at the door). :D

Re: Economics question
I would use less credit. Pay off my vehicle and Mark's. That would free up soo much more money a month if we didn't have stupid truck/jeep payments!

Re: Economics question
Very interesting, thanks guys! Most of the answers we came up with were food related, or gas too because we'd get a hybrid. I can't believe we didn't think of ramen!
The most creative answer I've heard yet has been toilet paper in favor of bidet.

Hahahaha!!!! My boyfriend says I'm crazy because I do the exact same thing... I live with two guys, and they don't even bother folding them, they just shove them on the rack, it drives me crazy! Tea towels in the kitchen have to be the same way. I also stack them in the closet according to size...

Re: Economics question
The first thing is less credit, second I think i would change my eating habit's a little, third i'd try to work less, fourth I probably would have bought less het's and more homozogou's morph's. LOL Just kidding het's are awesome but I'd probably have less of them. That's all I could think of right now......... Thinking about it some more i think I would make a big effort not to buy anything made in china. No quality control standards. I can't stand our reliance on them.

Re: Economics question
Seriously, Jo, laooda, I going to call Rachael Ray on you two!!:O I hope im not the only one who got that..lol.
Hmmmmm. My parents wouldn't pay for alot of the things for me, I would!:D

Re: Economics question
Interesting question. Food and booze wise, I pretty much buy what I want, although that will change very quickly...(more news later)
I like the cleaning supplies answer...definitely get a cleaning service to do it for you. I have absolutely no problem with how anyone is gonna fold stuff as long as they are folding it, not me. If I'm paying you to clean, I ain't cleaning it before you do - that's what I pay you.
But the one answer I did think of that no one else has said is coach airline tickets. I'd only buy business or first class. We flew across the country recently in domestic first class (which really is equivalent business on international flights) on air miles and it was heaven. I really, REALLY could get used to that. No argument on who gets the overhead bin, window or aisle, enough leg room, what do you want to drink ma'am? Yeah, bring it, honey.
I guess I also wouldn't buy any vehicle based on it's fuel efficiency. Give me something that goes like stink, that has an engine rumble that stops your heart and that puts a delirious grin on your face, plz thx. I hate hybrids - meh.

Re: Economics question
With the amount of traveling I've been doing, it'd be coach tickets on an airplane. I'm not what you would call small (about 6' and 200lbs) so squeezing into a coach seat is hell on wheels. However, I tend to agree with everyone on household stuff :).
