Is 4'' flexwatt good for an adult bp?
I'm starting my rack building and I just picked up my tubs, 28qt sterilites. I was just wondering if the 4'' flexwatt would be ok because the 11'' seems kind of overkill for these particular tubs.

I went to work for 4 hours and still no reply? :(

Sometimes you just have to be patient. Sunday's are a bit slower than usual, but don't fret.
I believe the 4" flexwatt will work fine. I think I have 3 or 4" flexwatt in all my racks, although on the larger adult tubs (1960s I think) there are two rows of it. As long as the room is reasonably well heated, you should be fine.

yay! Thank you. Rack building is so fun :D

What materials are you using to build your rack? Wood?

Re: Is 4'' flexwatt good for an adult bp?
i am using 11" on my 41 qt rack and 4" on my 32 qt and 15 qt racks. i don't think a 28 qt tub is going to be big enough for an adult bp. i plan on using 32 qt for my adult males and a 41 qt for when my females get big enough for them.
so to answer your question 4" will work for an adult, but the tub size is what you have to look out for. what are the dimensions of the 28 qt.?
Re: Is 4'' flexwatt good for an adult bp?
its 23'' long, 16'' wide, and about 5 7/8'' high. Is that bad?
Re: Is 4'' flexwatt good for an adult bp?
thats about as big as my sterilite 32 qt tubs. they will hold an adult male, but females tend to be a little larger, and especially if you're breeding, you're gonna want a bigger tub. most breeders use sterilite 41 qt tubs, or iris cb-70's (which are 40 qt i think).
it's up to you what you want. but i did a lot of research when i was building my rack, and decided to use 41 qt for the females and 32 qt for males.
EDIT: i just looked up the 28 qt tubs you are talking about and they might be a little small for a male bp when he gets fully grown. i would look into getting the "clearview" style tubs from sterilite. you can get these at target. they come in 6,15,32,and 66 qts. i use the 32 for my adult males, the 15 for my juvies, and 6 for hatchlings. the 66 are more for geckos or arboreal snakes. then their are the 41 qt tubs that are the same line as the 28 you got. i hope this helps.

Okay... ...but...
28/32qt would be fine for all but maybe the largest ball python females.

If you say so.
