Oh no Aleesha, you know what this means right....

    LOL
I know after the first time I rode a horse... I BEGGED my mom to take me again and again and again. Little did I know but she had already found a trainer and had a day set up for us to go out there and meet the lady. After lessons my mother let me lease a horse from her, then I bought a horse. I've yet to get tired of riding and have been around horses and riding since I was 10. I'm 23 now. :) I think you are in for trouble now woman! ;)

You daughter looks good up there. Looks like she had fun. CC looks just like my first horse, Fleet. Sadly we had to have him put down in 2000 because of throat and stomach cancer.

oh ya she's hooked alright. she asked my friend "so are there any horses here available for purchase?" (she's 8 LOL) and my girlfriend said, "yes, wombat is for sale and snoopy probably has a buyer..." i immediately interjected with "but people who get interested in riding have to wait 4 years before they can own a horse!

fortunately, this is one of my very bestest friends in the whole world... so she'll happily have my daughter tag along. they actually don't own CC... they own Tobi - but they used to lease CC.

CC isn't ridden much anymore as her owner just had a baby so they are happy to have people ride her. win win situation in my eyes. we are going to get my daughter riding CC alone and my friend's daughter will be riding Tobi and then they can ride the back fields etc together. what fun!

i'm actually thrilled about this. my daughter just loves critters. doesn't matter what kind of critter it is... she's crazy about it. so this is a wonderful experience for her. i'm so proud of her, sitting up there alone. :D:D:D:D

(sorry to hear about Fleet, Allison)

How fortunate for you and your daughter to have a friend with a horse. I would love to learn to ride horseback as well. My 5 year old daughter love, love, LOVES horses. She just hasn't figured out that a person can actually purchase one, although I don't think this assumption will last forever.

You daughter looks like she had a blast! Tell her congrats for getting the courage to try something new, and I hope it brings my enjoyable experiences to her life!

my girlfriend's daughter had some self esteem issues (with being so much taller than all her friends) and when she got into horses... she just blossomed with confidence! i can't imagine a negative in this situation to be honest...

although i just don't have the time to put to owning a horse... that's a LOT of time spent at the barn! (and i have a farm yard here to manage LOL)

thanks christie... i'll tell her!

Awww what lovely pictures. She looks great up on that horse. It's a wonderful thing to ride such beautiful animals. I haven't been in a saddle for way more years than I can count but I miss it everytime I see a horse. It's great she's trying something new and can not only learn to ride correctly but also some lovely things about how to maintain and care for our equine friends.

I should add though.. horses are more addicting than any substance known to man. They have been known to drain pocketbooks and eat dollar bills for lunch! ;)
But they are waaaay funner than money. I never had a twenty-bill drool on my shirt or steal an ear of corn from my hand..

Reminds me of my first ride. It was actually an appy that looked very similar to the one in your pics. But the thing had to be 17 hands high! I will have to dig that pic up; I have it framed but I want to scan it anyway. The ground was a looong way down, but like your daughter probably will, I was addicted and begged and pleaded to go out and ride the horses (at a family friend's place.)
So did she have a good time? Is she bitten by the horsey bug yet?

    Re: my daughter's first ride!
she's totally bitten in a big way. all she talks about is when she can go back to the barn. ;) of course, my girlfriend and her daughter are happy to feed the addiction so my little one is a happy girl!

while they were 'doubling' at the beginning my daughter was saying "so will you teach how to make him turn, go faster, stop, etc etc so i can ride without your help?"

this horse is a lot taller than the one my friend owns... not sure how many hands it is though.

    Re: my daughter's first ride!
That's cool. It is even better that you have an easy outlet for your daughter; I had to beg and plead as a kid (the horses were owned by my dad's boss, and that's just what he loved.. hanging with his boss on the weekend.. lol.)
You should tell your daughter that someday, if she works at it and everything, she will have a horse (or more) of her own. :) Hey, if this former miserable-in-the-city kid could do it, she could too!
