    Temp. Question
Ok, I finally found the acurite digital thermometers you guys told me to get. The hot side is perfect, it's reading 90.0 right now... the problem is the cool side is reading 87.3.... how do i bring that down to 80 where it should be??

What are you using to raise the heat on the hot side? If you're using a light or ceramic heat emitter, possibly a more localized heat source for the hot side such as an appropriately sized UTH on a thermostat/rheostat would be better.

for the hot side i have a ceramic heater and an UTH, the UTH isn't in use right now because i still have to save up to get a thermostat. I do have a light on the tank tho, should i shut it off and see what that does?

How big is your set up? What are you sing for an enlosure? I would start by turning off the light. What is the room tempature the enclosure is in? The ambient air temp will have an effect on the enlosures temp good or bad.

he's in a 20 g. long glass terrarrium, the ambient temp. is 82. the light is off now, it's been off for about half an hour and the cool side is at 86.7... hot side is 90.1

I would definitely suggest putting the heater and UTH on a rheostat at least. Then you can use the heater to get your ambient temps where they need to be, and the UTH to warm up the hot side.

Your ambient temps ar nice. What I would do is plug the UTH into a rheostat until you get a thermostat. With the ambient temps beeing where they are you should have no problem with heat. Try using the UTH only and see what that does. If that doesnt cut then add the CHE. Let us know if that helps. It will need a close eye and some fine tuning with the rheostat on it. I would highly suggest getting a thermostat as soon as you can. That will make life much easier for you, and better for you snake.

Hmmmmm........ Did you try ace hardware? Any digital thermometer with a Indoor, Outdoor, and Humidity reading that has a probe will work.

The outdoor is the temp taken from the probe at the end of the wire, the indoor and humidity is measured at the little square cut out on the back of the unit.

    Re: Temp. Question
ok, thank you!!! I feel like a complete moron now...

I was wondering why the humidity was so low.... well because i had the unit sitting outside the tank.... duuh!! Ok, so now that i fixed that little thing his temps are Hot side 91.6 and his cool side is 84.6. I just cleaned out his tank yesterday and put new substrate (compressed coconut) in so his humidity is a little high... Everything looks like it's close to where it should be!! I'm gonna keep a close eye on his cool side and make sure that gets down to where it needs to be. Thanks for all the help!!!! :snake:
