    expenses
I currently own 5 ball pythons a BCI and I plan on adding 2 more BPs to my collection.

Usualy I spend about $15 at the local pet store on mice and rats every weekend.
I wanted to see how much people here spend on feeders and how many snakes they have.

I just have the one snake and feed once a week so it costs me less than 3 dollars a week for the one small rat

depends where you get them from. is there some one around you that breeds rats and mice? if so i would get a bulk order maybe 2 weeks worth or find someone else in the area that has snakes and put in an order that is worth the breeders time to get the order together and meet you...they sell at a greatly reduced price from what petstores do because you get it straight from the source

I buy 120-150 mice every 3-4 weeks, and also have a 1.10(could me more, LoL) group for producing hoppers for hatchlings. I spent $68 last time on 120 mice(live) and it lasted 3.5-4 weeks for my 25+ snakes. I buy rabbits every so often, and they are between $5-10 apiece for 2.5lbers for the boa.

Bedding for the rodents is free(the school where I keep all of the rodents has a deal through the feed store), rodent block is $22 for 50lbs.

You ARE a herper if you pay more for snake food for a week than you do yourself, and you don't know how many snakes your feeding!!:P

I pay $9 per 25 rodents, frozen. I plan on breeding my own next year so that should diminish even that cost.

    Re: expenses
Well, I have around 100 snakes, and my feeder bill is around $250 a month, give or take.

I go thru a wholesaler, so it is not petstore prices.. Problem with going thru a wholesaler when you only have a couple of animals is that you have to buy $50 or more each time you meet up (usually).

It depends on where you find your feeders, if you breed them, and so forth. It's all in finding the best product for the best price.

Research your area, I'm sure there are wholesalers or even hobbiest breeders that may just let you have rats.

    That's what I did. Good luck! :D

This is a great and interesting topic!

I've been tossing around costs in my head for situation and it seems pretty minimal. Granted I only have like 7 ball pythons! The only things I have purchase regularly would be Mazuri rodent food, aspen (unless I use just paper), deli cups, and of course electricity.

I get compressed bags of aspen for like $7-$8 and will last me about a month. I can't remember how much the big back of Mazuri is but I'll say $25, this lasts a couple months...maybe more. Deli cups for water every few+ months only a few bucks. Electricity...not really sure flexwatt heated rack and oil heater used in the winter.

I go through 4 bags of Mazuri rodent each month ($52) and 2 bags of Pine ($14). I also use about 50 frozen mice per month and 4 jumbo rats ($35).

Three bp's. Two young ones still on mice and each one eats two mice per week and then my older bp eats one small rat per week. ( but only for about 8 mos out of each yr )

    4 x 1.99 = 7.96
    1 x 4.99 = 4.99
plus tax come to 13.60 per week.

I feed live and the only place I have to purchase feeders is Petco :(
And never can I see myself raising mice or rats because their smell turns my stomach, it's all I can do to open their boxes when it's feeding time and drop them in the tubs. But I have also learned to never say never :)

That cost will soon go up as I plan on adding another bp, a female 100% het for albino. So I am figuring soon over 20 bucks per week
