My snake got bit by a rat - 5 months later (DUW and kind of graphic)
If you remember this poor guy, he has healed up nicely. I had no idea that he was going to ever look this good again.

    good side :

more injured side (look at that eye!):

and his funny "head-on" shot - def. some character! :

now the only problem is that he hasnt eaten yet. He seems interested, but i dont know if he's scared, if he's not used to having sight in only one eye (if he lost his sight in that eye at all), or if you lost some of the use of his heat vents. Im pretty confident with some more time, he will eat. He has gone through to much in his little life to give up now! *fingers crossed*

Oh yeah - old thread link http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=42913
and the pics are busted so here are pictures of him right when he got bit. I also have some pictures of the healing process somewhere in between the pics above (those are from 3 days ago) and these pics:

Wow! It just breaks my heart to see those before pictures. But it's amazing how well he healed!! He looks great! ^_^ Good luck getting him to eat, I'm sure if you got him this far you can get him to eat.

don't worry he will eat it may take a little time but he will i have a girl that i tok in with some major bits on her and she's one of my best eaters now she never gives the rat a chance to get near her.
here is a pic of some of her bits just to show you it could have been worse on yours and like i said she eats like a horse now.

Give him time he will eat again. I know when a rat got a hold of my girl she was a bit skittish and shy around a rat and didn;t want to eat for a bit. Now she's back at hitting them head on and doesn't let them get a chance to walk around.

Somthing you could try if you feel you could safely administer, is "Jump Start". I have a snake who did not eat for almost 4 months after I got him, started giving him Jump Start and now hes eating again. Jump start is a concentrated caloric supplement and appetite stimulant, its alot less stressful then force feeding and alot less intruceive (sp). It works great, after using it twice I noticed weight gain in my little buddy.

I've never heard of it - I looked it up, it's made by ESU. Sounds like a good product - anyone else ever use it?

    Where did you find it?
