Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Well, we're going on a month now since I ordered my rack, and I just called Jeff to get a status update. He says it's going to be the end of next week at the earliest before he can get it out. In the mean time I've got 3 tubs full of snakes chilling on my livingroom floor for lack of a better place to put them..
This is getting REALLY frustrating. I'm tempted to ask for a refund and go to Reptile Basics or someone else...

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Welcome to the club. I ordered a rack from them back in the day for my Leos. After a month of nothing, I was hesitant to ask for a refund. When I called to find out they didn't even START production of my rack, I immediately asked for a refund. Its a customer satisfaction based world. I'll spend my money elsewhere. RBI has their game in check. 10 day delivery MAX. Most ship out next day.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
never ordered from Jeff, but what you're saying sounds about right for him. He has some incredibly loyal customers, but also some say his cages are too thin and the wait time is ridiculous. But he does have both.
I recently ordered an Animal Plastics rack, and although due to problems with my living situation I was able to put it together but have not used it yet. I have to say I like how it stands and it's sturdy.
Just another option if you do decide to switch your order.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
What sort of time line or projected delivery date did they give you when you ordered this product?
-
Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
you can't go wrong with Rich. anytime i order anything from him it usually arrives before i have time to check the updates on the shippers website. i plan on getting a nice cage for my BCI, he's only less then 4' now and i what one when he gets to 6'. so if i want a boaphile i'd have to order it now and maybe i'll get it before he reaches the 6' mark.
i think Rich makes his cages a little thicker, which in my opinion is always a little better.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Herpenclosures.com Check them out. You will be glad you did.
Rich is awesome to deal with.
I ordered a Boaphile rack back in Nov and I had mine before Christmas. Jeff had told me about 6-8 wks and I got it in about 5.
It does take usually about 6-8 weeks to get a rack from him. What time frame did he give you when your ordered it ?

I talked to him about 5 days after I ordered and he said 3 weeks from my order date. That was 3 weeks ago.
I think I'm going to call him back and ask for a refund... I can get the Ranco he sells on his site for less too from RBI.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
I bought one from Jason' Jungle directly at a show in Ft Wayne, Ind. He sells them completely assembled and they DON'T come apart. Its very sturdy, and looks good to this day, two years after putting it in service.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
If your looking for an good, affordable hatchling rack a good friend of mine makes these racks.
http://www.eyeballmorphs.com/sales.html
They quality and affordable. Plus the lead time is on them is less than 2 weeks from order to delivery. I've started using them this year and they work every bit as well as the boaphile racks I have.
BTW I had a similar waiting experience with boaphile for each of the 4 racks I bought from them... although I've been pleased with rack after delivery.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Well, I did it. I just called and requested a refund from Jeff. I've been having second thoughts about ordering from him, as well as ordering a Sterilite rack to begin with, since I placed the order. The delay is just too much for me to deal with at this point.
So, It looks like I'll be ordering an Iris rack from RBI and probably a Herpstat, scale, and IR thermometer, since I'll be spending about $100 less on the rack than I was expecting.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
i also have 2 five slot racks from Jasons Jungle and they have to be the best racks ever!

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Do yourself a favor and check w/ Rich @ Herpenclosures.com before you decide. You will be happy you did.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Well I build my racks but that aside. The boaphile site says that it normally takes 3-5 week after payment is received to make your rack and could take an additional 3-5 days for delivery. So it sounds like he is right on par with what he projects for customer.
Just my two cents

Right, but if you tell me three weeks and it ends up being a month and a half, that's a problem...

I figured since I have a small collection it wouldn't be an issue, but my collection is growing MUCH faster than I expected. Right now I've got 3 tubs with animals in them chilling on my living room floor, waiting for a rack to live in. I'm looking now to see if I can find something local, otherwise I will be ordering from another reputable source ASAP.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
I own a Freedom breeder, Animal plastics and Vision racks. Vision is by far the best value and most versatile. My one Vision rack hold adult CB-70 tubs, hatchling tubd and 32 quart juvy tubs and any combination these. It changes as the collection changes. No other rack can do that! I started a thread on them called "Versatile Rack" but don't know how to find it. Not very good at searching. :D

I did see that, and gave them a look. My problem is that they're "open" type racks, and with the temps in my apartment fluctuating so much I think a walled design would work out better.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
I have a lot of different racks.
I had my first rack be the Boaphile, and I had the exact same problem with shipping, except I got my racks TWO months after I ordered them. The quality is very nice, although I have been using them for two years, and they are starting to sag (they are on carpet).
Then, I got a Vision Rack. Easy to setup (kinda), but I find it very wobbly and not as solid as the complete plastic ones.
THEN I got AP racks. Solid work, very like the Boaphile, but a bit more sturdy. Didn't like buying and finding the tubs, but hey...
THEN!!! I got Jason's Jungle. I really like them! They are very solid, nice sturdy workmanship. Look very nice, and they come with tubs and my snakes are very happy in them.
Now, I guess to be fair, I have to go out and get some RBI racks too, but I like my Jason's and AP the best so far...

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Which size tubs would you guys recommend for breeders? I believe the 32qt sterilite tubs are big enough to house most adult BP's, but are they big enough to actually breed in? I'm probably going to go with Iris tubs ultimately, but already have several of the Sterilites so I'm familiar with the dimensions...
-
Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
i have the Iris stc-410 and the 32 qt. sweaterbox rack from reptile basics, although they are my first racks, I like them alot. They work great, you get great costumer service and great delivary, doesn't get much better then that.

Hi Heather,
I'm thinking your Vision rack must not be tightened correctly. I roll mine from one room to another (from carpet to tile and back) and never had a wobble problem what so ever? As far as the open sides go there are slots on the side if you want to slide in some walls. I use walls for very shy snakes to give them more security. My animal plastics has side walls but that really does not effect temps just privacy. What ever rack you get (there are lots of good ones) I would strongly recommend one with wheels. The one thing I don't like about the AP rack is when it needs to be moved(and there will be times you need to move them, escapee, rats, snakes, cleaning, etc..) the ones without wheels are a nightmare and can be damaged if not moved correctly, not to mention you will have to remove all the snakes. When you have wheels just take out water bowls, unplug and roll wherever. I like the Freedom breeder CB-70-8 tubs for breeding(they also can go in the Vision rack). They are the same as CB-70 tubs but 8" tall instead of 6". This helps when you are trying to open a tub and 2 large breeding snakes have wedged themselves in between their hide and the top and bottom of the tub. Sometimes you can't open them at all or without distubing/interupting them or possibly hurting someone. I use 32 quart tubs for juvys and adolescants. In my opinion a full grown BP needs a larger CB-70 tub so they can extend their bodies if and when necessary. Another reason I like wheels is because I roll my rack with breeders into another room during cool down breeding season. That way my smaller-non breedrs don't cool down and keep feeding(in the warmer snake room) and the breeders are in a cooler temp zone/room to intiate breeding. As you collection grows or changes you will move things around and the one Vision rack can change with you needs. Everyone has their own way of doing things but this has worked out great for me. Best of luck with your new rack and breeding projects! :sunny:

check out www.nspretiles.com
i bought a snake shack from Casey and it is very nice for the price. i got the sweaterbox/shirtbox one where you can use 2 15 qts or 1 32 qt.
i originally choose him because he could deliver to the taylor reptile show and i wouldn't have to pay for shipping, which saved me alot. but the quality is more then i expected.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Ok, well I've done some footwork and think I'm going to go with RBI/Reptile Basics. They're a little more expensive than herpenclosures.com, but everyone seems to rave about Rich's customer service, and that's very important to me. I've got an email in to him to see if he sells a 4 slot CB70 rack, because I'm going to want more than 3 snakes.
Are the CB70 tubs going to be too big for juveniles? I could probably divide them somehow, just don't know if that's going to work either...

The CB 70s will be HUGE for a juvie! I've seen tub dividers (I think Rich with Herp Enclosures sells them as well as others) for 32 quart tubs but not the CB70s. Good luck!

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....

I also recently got a vision rack. ANd I lov eit easy to put togther and has the heat. One trip to target and the tubs were at my house.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
Well, I placed my order with RBI this morning. Over the weekend Rich told me he would have it out by Thursday, so hopefully that holds up. Thanks everyone for your recommendations.

Re: Boaphile Plastics, GRRRR....
I think you'll be quite happy with the rack you get. My three adults have plenty of room (even my biggest 3000G female) and I love them.
I'll be ordering more soon, once I get rid of the aquariums that are in the space I need.
Good luck with them!

Great news everyone! I just got an email back from Rich, he is shipping my packages today or tomorrow! Hopefully I'll have them by the middle of next week at the latest.
